**About us**:

- LDS (Learning Disabilities Society) is a growing, innovative, research-based, nonprofit organization serving children with suspected and diagnosed learning differences. Through our Research-informed Individualized Student Education (RISE) programs, we provide customized, one-to-one, or small group learning support for children and youth aged 3-18. Through early intervention, our goal is to make a transformative difference in the learning and life outcomes of students. Our ultimate goal is to effect systems change that leads to wide-ranging social benefits.

**Our Instructors**:

- Our instructors are experienced educators with a passion for making learning accessible, engaging, and possible for learners who find learning difficult and have skills and experience in delivering instruction in at least one of the following three academic areas: reading, writing and/or math.
- Our instructors come from a range of backgrounds including teaching, special education, academic tutoring, behavioural intervention, and are looking for opportunities to develop their professional practice, skills, and knowledge within a collegial environment and organization focused on transforming the educational experience of our students.

**LDS Summer Camps**
- Our customized and creative week-long summer camps focus on helping students in grades two-to-six with learning differences develop new skills through fun, hands-on camp programs with high instructor to camper ratio. **Contract/Full-time**:40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:30am - 4:30pm), from July 10th - August 18th 2023. Additionally, LDS has ongoing afternoon/evening and/or Saturday Instructional work available during the school year.

**Remuneration**: $29.00 to $32.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience

**Camp Instructor Responsibilities**:

- Lead academic, social and emotional, and active group programming
- Support students' engagement and inclusion in academic tasks and social programming
- Support student in building friendships and navigating social challenges
- Differentiate materials and identify and develop accommodations for learners.
- Work effectively within a team-teaching environment
- Support and supervise students on local walking outings
- Respectfully communicate with families
- Contribute to our team learning and be an advocate for learning differences and our work in the community.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in education or related field with educational experience
- Experience working with elementary school-aged children in school settings (BC Certified teacher preferred).
- Experience working with children with diagnosed or suspected learning differences
- Team teaching/co-facilitation experience
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Criminal record check with the vulnerable sector
- Eligibility to work in Canada
