**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Quench & Temper Manager as part of a four-member team, the Relief Floater (Weld Locator/Labeller, Pipe roller, Pipe Scanner/Weld Locator & Dome Operator) is an entry level position requiring mínimal training. The Relief Floater (Weld Locator/Labeller, Pipe roller, Pipe Scanner/Weld Locator & Dome Operator) may be assigned to work a various schedule and will be expected to fill in for other entry positions when required. Responsible for ensuring a continuous flow of pipe entering the furnaces at the entry and transfer tables.

The Relief Floater (Weld Locator/Labeller, Pipe roller, Pipe Scanner/Weld Locator & Dome Operator) is also required to communicate with Shift Operations Supervisors, Furnace Operator/Unlicenced Mechanic, and Material Handlers. The Relief Floater (Weld Locator/Labeller, Pipe roller, Pipe Scanner/Weld Locator & Dome Operator) is a key member of the facility’s Quality Assurance and Production Team and will undertake activities associated with the continuous improvement and ensure continuous flow of product through department.

**Duties/Responsibilities/Procedures**:
**Essential Duties**:

- Operating multi-function processing machinery
- Ensure proper scanning of green pipe and reheats
- Work with yard to insure constant flow into the building
- Ensure proper function of scanning gun
- Monitoring equipment operation and equipment panel indicators to verify specified processing conditions, to make necessary adjustments and to detect deviations from standards such as pipe straightness
- Part tracking in SCADA and routing of pipe to other operations
- Application of labels when required
- Ensuring proper heat lots are loaded
- Assisting in pipe size change
- Working safely and ensuring safe practices are followed within all areas
- Interpreting shop orders and instructions to determine work assignments, process specifications and production schedules
- Cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting equipment and performing regular preventive maintenance activities
- Observe & ensure pipe are rolling on in feed tables effectively.
- Grinding of pipe;
- Marking of test pipe and re-heats.
- Resurface gripper shoes as required
- Maintains REA-JET printer, cleaning heads hourly, proper ink level for production and proper shutdown of equipment;
- Perform start up and shut down of the production system in cases of emergency and to clear blockages and jams;
- Communicate with Hydrotester Operator via portable radio to direct pipe flow based on shop order requirements.
- Communicate with yard via portable radio to ensure constant flow into the building if not processing directly from Hydrotester.
- Record all incoming pipe numbers on FCD-0287 Welland Plant NDE document and distribute to required operators in department.
- Actively participates in problem-solving activities related to operation of equipment in the work area both on a preventive and a reactive basis;
- Ensure safe practices are followed within all areas in order to provide for a safe work environment.
- Adjust controls in order to activate set and regulate equipment according to specifications;
- Aids in emergency/unscheduled repairs of furnaces during production and performing scheduled maintenance of furnaces;
- Interpretation of equipment manuals and work orders and instructions to determine work assignments.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material, and reporting those and any unusual situations to appropriate supervisor.

**Salary**: $22.38-$23.38 per hour
