Mechanical Foreperson

NAC is currently seeking a Mechanical Foreperson with experience supervising up to 10 employees, supporting multiple sites in the GTA.
**Location**:
GTA, Ontario.
**Position Summary**:
Under the direction of the Mechanical Superintendent you will be responsible for laying out, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing piping systems. This position requires knowledge of the heavy construction industry. Specifically the practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control and safety associated with this industry.
- Perform hands-on work duties as they relate to the Foreperson’s specific assigned classification
- Focus on following key directions through managing ITP's for installations and ensuring installations meet specified technical and quality standards
- Properly plan and monitor material and equipment deliveries so not to impede the progress of the work; complete material/product requisitions for buying purposes
- Complete regular timesheets for workforce including proper cost coding/ update labour monitoring
- Layout installations of the trade work
- Knowledgeable and aware of the required quality of installations; direct and monitor quality. Ensure quality issue toolbox talks are conducted before commencement of critical installations. Report on issues
- Lead and give direction for the daily activities of mechanical employees
- Encourage and promote open communication and trust with the workforce; lead by example in the assigned work. Provide regular direction to your crew
**Requirements**:
- Foreman experience (leading up to 10 mechanical tradespeople)
- Background in both piping and equipment installations in industrial construction
- 4-5 years experience working on large scale heavy construction projects
- Must possess layout skills
- Ability to interpret contract drawings and vendor install drawings
- Precision equipment installation skills
- Must possess pipefitting skills for 2" to 20"pipe
- Experience with large bore PVC piping, soldering, victaulic, threading, s/s and pipe
- Ability to understand contract documents/drawings and prepare material lists for purchasing
- Hoisting & Rigging skills are considered an asset
- Must be able to take clear direction and work independently
- Ability to receive direction and effectively communicate to other mechanical tradespeople, monitor quality of work and ensure safety
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current
- Valid WHMIS, Fall Arrest, Aerial Work Platform and Confined Space are required
