Yard Attendant

At Sooke Removal and Hauling, we operate a local disposal yard offering junk removal services as well as full-service bin rentals. We are an integral part of our local community infrastructure and our valued clients are not just customers to us, but also our friends and neighbours.

The average work day will consist of opening the yard, assisting customers with transactions, loading/unloading, cleaning/sorting/organizing and salvaging material as necessary

**Job Requirements**:

- Able to follow instructions and execute tasks efficiently, with attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills and a willingness to assist our valued clients
- Excellent communication skills - able to take instructions and be directed as needed
- Physically fit - able to lift up to 50 lbs (as needed), not afraid of hard work
- Able to work outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions
- Detail oriented, self-motivated and able to take initiative as needed

**Daily duties will include**:

- Opening (and/or closing) the yard
- Assisting customers - weighing vehicles, quoting dump fees, assisting with unloading, cashing out
- Sorting and organizing material (wood, drywall, metal, etc.)
- Unloading/loading vehicles for customers and for transfer runs
- General yard upkeep, tidying and cleaning up
- Listing and labeling salvaged items for sale in our upcoming storefront (and online)
- opening at 8 or 9 am. Experience driving manual transmission vehicles or large trucks is highly beneficial.

**Position Details**:

- **Hiring Immediately** for Full-time (4-5 days/week), part-time (2-3 days/week), weekends and mornings

**Pay: $18/hour** Pay increases & opportunities to advance will be available (based on performance)

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 40 per week
