**Analytical Chemist**

Perennia Food and Agriculture Corp. is Nova Scotia’s development agency focusing on supporting growth, transformation and economic development in Nova Scotia’s agriculture, seafood, cannabis, and food and beverage sectors. Perennia is looking for a highly capable Analytical Chemist to work in our Cannabis Analytical Lab, located in Truro, Nova Scotia. The successful applicant will be required to reside within 30 km from the workplace.

**Principal Responsibilities**:

- Prepare samples following established methods outlined by the Document Control Management System, in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 Standards, Health Canada Regulations, and internal lab procedures
- Prepare calibration standards, quality standards and checks, and various solutions for analytical methods
- Operation of various analytical instruments (including, but not limited to, UPLC, HPLC, ICP-MS, LC/MS/MS, GC/MS/MS, GC/MS, GC/FID) and associated software
- Perform volumetric techniques, quantitative transfer, weighing, and other tasks, with a high degree of precision
- Documentation for all laboratory procedures (receiving, inventories, sample prep and analysis, instrument logs, etc.)
- Following appropriate procedures for interpretation of results prior to completing sample reports,
- Maintaining client information, sample information and results in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, quality assurance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment
- Perform quality control monitoring by tracking equipment temperatures, pipette and dispenser verifications, room temperature and relative humidity checks, etc.,
- Prepare technical reports and prepare graphs or charts to document experimental results
- Assist in method development of analytical techniques for various cannabis matrices

**In order to excel at this position, the successful applicant will have**:

- MSc, BSc or Diploma in Chemistry (preferably analytical chemistry)
- Previous experience in a service laboratory and with analytical instrumentation (UPLC, HPLC, ICP-MS, LC/MS/MS, GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, GC/FID) experience
- The ability to work independently, with high-level organization skills
- The ability to work in a high-paced environment
- Possess exceptional scientific communication skills (written, oral)
- The ability to accommodate flexible working hours
- The ability to provide high level service standards to clients
