Vancouver, Canada Columbus Residence Full time

Columbus Residence, a Catholic Long Term Care Home is looking for an enthusiastic maintenance worker to perform general maintenance duties to join our team.

Applicant must have a negative TB results, hepatitis B immunity and complete a criminal record check prior to starting work.

**SCHEDULE**:Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Performs carpentry maintenance such as replacing glides on furniture, removing and replacing door handles and attaching items such as pictures, drapery tracks and baseboards to walls.

2. Performs plumbing maintenance such as unblocking sewer lines; replacing fixtures such as flush tank mechanisms and faucets.

3. Performs electrical maintenance duties such as replacing light switches, electric plugs, extension cords, sockets, and receptacles; under close supervision of Maintenance Supervisor performs electrical maintenance such as replacing ballasts, fastening boxes and conduits on surfaces, cleaning, greasing, oiling, and replacing filters on motors and replacing motors on appliances such as blenders and mixers.

5. Performs mechanical maintenance on equipment such as wheelchairs, beds and carts by cleaning, greasing, oiling and replacing broken and worn out parts such as castors and filters; performs engine maintenance such as changing oil, cleaning/replacing spark plugs and checking and topping up battery and other fluids. Changes air filters.

6. Checks and receives supplies.

7. Transports and moves heavy equipment, furniture, and supplies as required.

8. Reports unsafe or faulty equipment to the designated Coordinator, and corrects where possible and reports accidents, unusual incidents in a timely manner. Make recommendations for improvement.

9. Uses, cleans and stores maintenance equipment, supplies, and work areas. Reports and attends to unsafe or faulty equipment as required. Records all necessary documentation in relation to duties performed. Maintains inventory control and record keeping systems as assigned.

10. Performs other related duties as required.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $27.10 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 22.5 per week
