**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Crew Leader, Ravine Youth Team is responsible for the implementation and coordination of work tasks, schedules and outputs associated with TRCA’s Ravine Youth Team. This position supports internal and external stakeholder relations in collaboration with management, engaging with a broad range of individuals through assigned tasks, projects, and program activities.

This unique summer contract is an opportunity to gain valuable early work experience, while exploring potential career options in the environmental sector and building skills through various professional development experiences.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Coordinates all activities in association with the Ravine Youth Team programs and adheres to principles outlined in Toronto’s Ravine Strategy.
- Coordinates daily implementation of programs, activities, and events, assigning and overseeing crew team members as they complete project tasks, including but not limited to, planting projects, trail and site maintenance, and clean-ups.
- Coordinates field staff in the execution of assigned project tasks or Ravine Youth Team activities including Daily site checks, Coordination of staff travel to various work locations as required, Vehicle and equipment coordination; ensuring adequate PPE and inventory as needed for activities, Guiding restoration activities including invasive species removal, planting and litter clean ups and field activities such as field observations, data recording and specimen collection, Liaising between management and both internal and external stakeholders.
- Completes program related documentation including but not limited to progress tracking, safety, cost ledgers, and other related record keeping.
- Ensures that quality control and assurance measures are followed at all steps of the work process.
- Maintains existing professional contacts and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders; participates in public consultations on request.
- Participates in and/or leads the daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning.

**What will you need to succeed**:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Completion of college diploma in Resource Management, Environmental or Engineering Science, Landscape Design, Forestry, or a related field.
- Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certification.

Experience
- 2+ years of experience related to resource management, restoration ecology, environmental sciences, fish and wildlife management or related field.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- Comfortable working in the outdoors, in frequently changing weather conditions and/or new environments.
- Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)
- Knowledge of best management practices, and up-to-date knowledge of mitigation and controls, as well as safe work procedures
- Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload and multiple deadlines.
- Collaborates with others to focus on objectives and effectively delegates work within a team.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, related Regulations, and legislation.
