Position Title: Greenhouse Nursery Worker - Weekend Watering Assistant

Organization: Jplant

Location: Napanee, Ontario

Contract Duration: 5-month duration from May 8th, 2023 to October 2nd, 2023. Seasonal.

Hours: 16-20 hours per week

Wage: $16.50 per hour

Jplant is a propagation nursery located just north of the 401 in Napanee, Ontario. We propagate, grow, sell, and ship small plants in select Canadian provinces. The types of plants we raise generally include perennials, ornamental grasses, flowering shrubs, fruit-bearing shrubs, and bamboo. We make all sales online and ship to clients thus there is no public customer relations on site.
- Work with a small nursery team
- Assess and monitor plants on weekend
- Hand water as needed
- Assist shipping days
- Pruning
- Weeding

**Qualifications**
- Education and/or experience in horticulture or a related field is an asset
- Responsible and able to work independently
- Organized and strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a small team
- Able to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule
- Able to understand and follow directions exactly as given
- Attention to detail
- Health and Safety mindfulness
- Valid G class drivers license (or able to arrange reliable transportation to the nursery)
- Fitness: A variety of tasks require workers to stay in one position over long periods of time: standing, kneeling, sitting. Able to safely lift 40lbs on occasion, and possibly participate in small construction projects.
- Ability to work outdoors in hot summer weather and rain.
