**Position Summary and Scope of Service**

Reporting to the Manager, Facility Services and consistent with the Mission, Values and policies of St.Amant, the Trades Helper is a critical role in ensuring the success of St.Amant business and operations.

**Qualifications**

**Educational**:

- Grade XII Diploma or Certificate
- Proficiency in the English language that enables the incumbent to complete any reading and or writing requirements necessary to perform all aspects of the position in a safe and timely manner

**Professional**:

- Four (4) years related work experience
- Experience with and operational knowledge of mechanical equipment and tools used in the maintenance of equipment and the facility, including basic plumbing and welding
- Ability to record data manually and using various software programs

**Personal**:

- Ability to work with mínimal supervision as well as a collaborative team player in a team environment
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment

- Physically capable of meeting the demands of the position and in good health and able to maintain a satisfactory attendance record

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Program/Service Support
Consistent with the Mission, Philosophy and Policies of St.Amant, the Trades Helper is responsible for maintaining comfortable and safe living/working environments including buildings, grounds and vehicles of St.Amant. Quality services are evident when professional communication, timeliness, accuracy, ethical awareness / sensitivity, confidentiality are consistently demonstrated as required by legislation and program/service standards.

**Duties include**:

- Ensures the mechanical shop is kept clean and orderly at the end of each day
- Retrieves Work Requests from the HIPPO Maintenance Management System regularly throughout the normal working day
- Responds to all types of maintenance Work Orders as assigned by the Manager, Facility Services or Designate
- Assists in the maintenance of equipment and buildings including mechanical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and welding
- Assists in the renovations of equipment and buildings
- Installs, repairs, modifies equipment as required
- Repairs and maintains a wide range of mechanical equipment such as beds, wheelchairs, lifts and Nutrition Services equipment
- Performs yard maintenance including snow removal when required
