**Schmoozer's Cafe at the Asper Jewish Community Campus is looking for Front Line Staff to join our team in Winnipeg, MB.**

The Restaurant Cashier is in charge of the register. This would include cash and credit card transactions, tipping out wait staff, and balancing the register at the end of the shift. As well as cashier responsibilities, this position entails with it a wait staff component. This includes various tasks including the preparation of many side dishes such as soups, sandwiches and salads. Must be competent with computerized register system and have good cash handling skills. Must have experience in retail sales, and be professional, polite, and reliable, restaurant experience is an asset.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Greets patrons to the restaurant in a polite and professional manner
- Takes food orders from patrons and relays order to the line cook.
- Uses cash register to input customer orders and handles cash and credit/debit card transactions.
- Prepares various side dishes including soups, sandwiches, and salads.
- Aids in the clearing of tables.
- Ensures drink fridge is fully stocked at all times.
- Ensures register is balanced.
- Aids with table clearing during down time.
- Responsible for the cleanliness and outward appearance of their workstation.
- All other duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager or Supervisor.

**MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS**:
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED**:

- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Capable of following verbal and written directions
- Must be physically fit and able to stand for long intervals
- Ability to work without direct supervision and as a team member
- Capable of working quickly and meeting timelines
- Capable of following all safety precautions
- Willingness to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Maintains a professional, well-groomed appearance

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:
**WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT**:

- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects, standing and/or walking for extended periods of times during rush and busy hours of the school year.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- This position requires an availability to work shift work Monday - Thursday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, and Friday's from 10:00 - 3:00 pm.
- Approximately 15 hours per week with opportunity for more.
- Maintains general kitchen, food storage area and dish area cleanliness.
- Works as a team player.
- Ensures the overall cleanliness of the customer tables.
- Removes dirty dishes promptly and with mínimal disruption to patrons.
- Ensures that all dirty dishes are cleaned and sanitized prior to next usage.
- Empties all trash receptacles and removes trash from restaurant.
- Observes and reports any repairs needed.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned by the Line Cook, Supervisor or General Manager.
