**Job Summary**:
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Officer works closely with all levels of management and employees within the manufacturing and office environments to ensure safe work practices and policies and manages disability programs to ensure that employees receive appropriate benefits and employees return to work from disabilities are managed effectively.

**Main Duties**:

- Initiate, promote, implement and maintain safety and health projects and initiatives.
- Update, maintain and present safety orientation and training for all new employees to ensure complete and effective understanding of potential risks and expected behaviors within the workplace.
- Maintain and present safety orientation meetings and ongoing training for existing employees and visitors as required.
- Prepare Safety and Health Committee Meeting minutes monthly, distribute as required, and follow up on all points to ensure matters are resolved in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Coordinate safety and health supplies by ensuring appropriate supplies are identified and purchased in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Monitor usage of supplies and identify inappropriate use, and respond accordingly.
- Provide regular and accurate statistical reports on all medical aid, WCB incidents and injuries, lost time injuries, health-related absenteeism and disability information.
- Communicate to management as required.o Monitor and recommend corrective action.o Maintain Safety and Health bulletin boards.
- Maintain records of all Safety and Health related training on individual employee files and plant-wide logs.
- Monitor, update and communicate the The CTD Group Health and Safety Policies.
- Assist Supervisors with hazard analysis for all work centers.
- Ensure Safe Work Procedures are current and complete for all work centers.
- Conduct effective ergonomic analysis of the workplace and work centers.
- Conduct monthly departmental safety audits, with assistance from the Safety and Health committee member and Supervisors, and report on results.
- Investigate accidents thoroughly and effectively, and then respond appropriately as required, including communicating to, training and following up with supervisors and employees.
- Case Manager administrator for occupational and non-occupational injury and illness:

- Liaise with WCB and insurance providers on all claims, including managing appeals where appropriate.o Effectively manage disability cases to ensure employees receive the benefits that they are entitled to.o Manage return to work programs proactively, working closely with the employee, their supervisors and the insurance organization to ensure the employee’s safety and health and protecting the Company’s interests.
- Diligently encourage and promote positive and effective employee relations through communications initiatives, coaching supervisors, providing counseling to employees and monitoring employee satisfaction.
- Provide input for corporate newsletter on Safety and Wellness.
- Support and promote Human Resources department initiatives and provide assistance in the absence of HR personnel.
- Conduct all activities and execute all duties with enthusiasm and a positive, results-focused attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Employment requirements**:

- Occupational Health and Safety Certificate or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience implementing and promoting safe work practices and policies within a manufacturing environment or similar.
- Experience with disability management, accident investigation, workplace inspection and job hazard analysis is preferred.
- Understanding of current legislation and other safe work practice requirements and recommendations.
- Confidence, with the proven ability to build credibility and strong partnerships at all levels.
- Very strong sense of urgency with proven record of following through to meet deadlines and commitments.
- Energetic, self-motivated, creative and especially positive outlook.
- Proven ability to maintain confidences and ensure confidentiality of information and records.
