**The Organization**

Métis Crossing is Alberta’s first major Métis destination where we share and celebrate the Métis culture with all people With their unique designs that combine both traditional and contemporary Métis craftmanship, The Lodge and the Gathering Centre at Métis Crossing are special blends of comfort, culture, and Métis history. Directly adjacent to the Cultural Gathering Centre, our 40-room boutique Lodge offers scenic views overlooking the majestic North Saskatchewan River, the very route used by our Métis ancestors as they gathered here to trade. The Cultural Gathering Centre is the base for all our cultural and educational programs. The Lodge offers a Bistro for coffee and express breakfast, as well as a Lounge for cocktails and light snacks. Together they are an ideal location for corporate and government retreats as well as family gatherings.

Métis Crossing endeavours to preserve, strengthen, and promote the cultural heritage of Alberta's Metis people. We share our past, present, and future. Reflective of our communities and cultural landscapes, programming is based on research, collection, and presentation of Metis traditions, lifeways, and cultural artifacts. We strive to incorporate a continuum of Métis achievement, both historical and contemporary.

**The Opportunity**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Sharing menus and daily specials with guests
- Entering orders and navigating POS
- Managing cash and other payments
- Restocking stations and supplies - liquor and sundry inventories.
- Bar and preparation area cleaning and maintenance.
- Preparing coffee and alcoholic beverages.
- Assist with food service as required - serving prepared food at the Restaurant and in Lounge.
- Follow Standard Operating and Safety Procedures.
- Clearly communicate with customers, co-workers, and supervisors during service, pre
- and post
- shift and for overall Metis Crossing effectiveness.

- Excellent Customer service - anticipating and meeting the needs of our guests.
- Strong Conflict Management skills - ability to address guest feedback in a positive way.
- Able to work in and with diverse audiences of varying cultural backgrounds and ages.
- Flexibility to adjust to changes in schedule and assignments.
- Attention to detail, especially when managing payments.
- Able to work independently and with others in a team, as well as take direction from others.
- Ability to work effectively in a noisy, fast paced, multitasking environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (25kg).
- Organizational and time management including punctuality and dependability.
- Ability to work in other departments at the Métis Crossing as needed, either with training or existing skills.
- Alberta Proserve certification required.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- WHMIS and basic First Aid
- Knowledge of Alberta history and cultural diversity
- Knowledge of Alberta Métis culture
- 1 year Bartending experience in a similar environment
- Basic understanding of food service requirements
- High school diploma
- Microsoft Office
- Computer proficiency.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

**Other Requirements**
- Métis Crossing is located in Smoky Lake; this position will be required to work on site.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Must have a Class 5 Driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must provide Criminal Record Check
