**Job Overview**
A well-established Skin Care Company based in the Greater Toronto Area has an immediate opening for an experienced, motivated individual to fill the position of Batch Chemist / Formulation Chemist Assistant. This is an entry-level full-time position reporting directly to the Senior Formulation Chemist. This position involves the development of skin, hair, and body care cosmetic products. Previous experience and knowledge of formulating and compounding are strongly preferred
**Physical Demands**: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to interact and collaborate with other team members. The employee frequently is required to sit, lift, pick up ingredients up to 50lbs drums, and handle equipment/machinery.
**Work Environment**: This job operates in a single professional office, lab, and manufacturing/processing environment. This role routinely uses standard office computer equipment, lab equipment, and manufacturing/compounding machinery.
**Competencies and Skills**:
- Must be passionate and knowledgeable about formulating/compounding/skincare and chemistry.
- Demonstrate strong computer skills, highly organized, detail-oriented, able to follow instructions, formulas, processes, and record-keeping skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work alone and with others.
- Demonstrate drive, creativity, and provide quality results.
- The ability to multi-task and work according to tight timelines and be able to get information under ambiguity.
- Must have strong personal and English proficiency verbal skills and be great with communication.
- Attention to detail.
- Follow and comply with GMP standards and regulations.
**Education and Experience**:
- College/bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, college, or institution in Chemistry or related field.
- 2+ years of experience with cosmetics or skincare products will be a big plus but not required.
**Position Responsibilities**:
- Prepare formulation batches - Prepare necessary ingredients and equipment for blending. Weighing of raw materials. Blending/Milling/Homogenizing.
- Create, organize, and prepare batch orders from formulation blending to production/filling area - all with the highest accuracy and quality and in a timely fashion.
- Update, review, and organize MSDS files/Technical files.
- Assist in creating new and optimizing our existing skincare, haircare, and body care formulations.
- Organize/monitor raw materials inventory and needs on an ongoing basis, along with appropriate safety/technical documentation, specifications, samples, etc. for new formulations.
- Assist the Sr. Formulation Chemist to conduct all required performance and tests, interprets, records, and reports results accurately.
- Test batches for product conformance, pH, and viscosity.
- Keep accurate records of batches and stability results.
- Meet/work with the team as necessary to develop or improve existing formulas.
- Build, manage, and upkeep general lab such as in maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work environment, ordering supplies, and keeping instrument and chemical inventory records.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as reasonably assigned.

Pay: $40,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
