**Job description**

Strathcona Long Term Care is a state-of-the-art Long Term Care facility located in
Mount Forest, ON, centrally located between Guelph and Owen Sound. We currently have an immediate opening for an Environmental Services Manager
(ESM). Directly reporting to the Executive Director, the ESM is responsible for the oversight and management of all components of the Maintenance, Housekeeping and Laundry departments within the facility as well as exterior Landscaping and
Snow removal.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Provides hands on services and repairs to maintain the facility, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds for the safety of residents, staff, and visitors and in compliance with policy, applicable codes, and legislative regulations.
- Mechanical, Technical, Electrical, Life Safety and Plumbing knowledge and experience an asset to ensure all building systems are in proper working order.
- Liaise with outside contractors and inspectors to assure equipment and the environment conforms to applicable standards
- Reports deficiencies to the Executive Director or designate and recommends corrective action and provides costing information as required.
- Purchases equipment/supplies within established parameters established.

Completes purchase orders, approves invoices and submits to accounting in a timely manner.
- Develops, maintains, and evaluates systems and processes for ongoing preventative, remedial, and emergency maintenance.
- Ensures work areas are maintained in a clean, orderly, and safe manner and proper use of equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Maintains an inventory and a system for rotating all emergency supplies.
- Is actively involved in the Quality Monitoring of the department.
- Leads Fire Safety and Occupational Health & Safety on behalf of the operator
- Conducts / supports regular Fire & Emergency Drills
- Involved with Human Resource Management processes for the housekeeping and laundry departments (scheduling, payroll preparation)

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Successful completion of a formal building maintenance training program preferred or proven and related experience.
- demonstrated working knowledge of electrical, technical, fire safety and plumbing systems
- demonstrated working knowledge of Mechanical and Hydraulic Systems
- Emergency Management training to enhance fire safety course an asset;
Owners/Operators (or their delegates) of Care Occupancies, Care and
Treatment Occupancies and Retirement Homes

**Experience**:

- Minimum of 1-2 years working in a supervisory role
- Working experience with minor plumbing and electrical systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in completing drywalling, painting, flooring and other general renovation tasks

**Additional skills / abilities**:

- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other department leads, staff, residents, and families.
- Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy items
- Must be able to work accurately, quickly, and safely.
- Must be an effective team player that works well with others and independently as required.
- Familiarity with basic payroll processes and staff scheduling preferred
