**THE ROLE**
**Museum Curator**

This is a temporary full-time (until approximately September 13, 2024) role at the County, with an annual

compensation range of $70,689- $86,013.

**THE OPPORTUNITY**
You will develop, coordinate, and implement a wide range of activities for

the County Museum, focusing on collection management, heritage and

cultural services, as well as dynamic programs, activities, and events.

You’ll aim to drive revenue growth and manage budgets efficiently. By

creating engaging outreach initiatives, programs, and events to enhance

the museum’s community profile.

Ultimately, you will lead and manage site staff and volunteers to ensure

smooth museum operations and successful events.

Develop, coordinate and implement activities related to the operation of the assigned County Museum, collection

and heritage and cultural services, programs, activities and events, including maximizing revenues and overseeing

budgets. Provide outreach initiatives, programming and events to expand community profile, increase

visitors/community engagement and assist with tourism development. Manage site-specific staff and volunteers

assisting with Museum operations and events.

**QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS**_ _

Education
- Community College Diploma relative to the area of responsibility.

Experience
- Minimum 1 year of current related experience.
- Special consideration given to applicants with:

- Work experience as a museum/art gallery curator
- o Work experience in a municipal heritage setting
- Experience in a museum environment including curatorial, project, programming and volu7nteer

management responsibilities.
- Experience and demonstrated specific technical knowledge of relevant legislation, heritage principles,

techniques and ethics.

Knowledge/Skills
- Sound technical knowledge relative to accountabilities.
- Good understanding of municipal government, its operations and services and legislation affecting the area

of responsibility.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to report, explain, provide clarification, and

persuade to gain approval.
- Demonstrated initiative, and ability to make decisions involving routine tasks, with established procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently referring only major problems to supervisors/managers.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity involving regular work with confidential

information.
- Proven ability to handle/process cash, valuables and/or issue receipts.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills involving occasional ingenuity, and minor refinement of

procedures when necessary.
- Demonstrated capability to act as a leader within a functional area, including providing advice and training.
- Organizational skills with specialized attention to detail to avoid errors and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and guide

interdisciplinary team-based discussions to increase staff morale, team building and team spirit.
