**About the role**
As our next Geotechnical Manager, based in Vancouver you will lead a team of geotechnical professionals to collaboratively deliver high-quality solutions and results for our clients.
**Job purpose**
**Core functions**
- Participate in management of AMC as a business.
- Develop new business according to the Business Plan.
- Pro-actively pursue marketing activities to promote AMC (e.g. publish technical papers or articles, attend technical conferences).
- Lead the geotechnical team to develop work for themselves and other consultants.
- Undertake own consulting.
- Act as Project Manager for designated projects.
- Act as Peer Reviewer for designated projects.
- Manage own personal and professional development.
- Assist in staff recruitment.
- Coach, mentor and build skills of group members.
- Conduct performance reviews for group members.
- Address appropriate Occupational Health and Safety issues.
- Manage workload / resources for the geotechnical team.
- Support for all projects being completed by team members.
- Report to Regional Manager on a regular basis regarding projects and team.
- Appoint Project Manager and Peer Reviewer for projects within the group.
- Maintain good relationships with clients to advance the reputation of AMC.
- Build relationships with new clients.
**Competencies**
- Sound working knowledge of a broad range of rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering practices with expert knowledge in one or more aspects of mine engineering.
- Experience in both surface mining and underground would be regarded favourably.
- Experience conducting regular site inspections for quality assurance and quality control of ground support installations.
- Experience in defining support requirements following best practices for active mining operations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders including senior management, technical professionals, and operational personnel.

- Good written and spoken English
- Good understanding of the business of consulting in accordance with the Business Plan.
- Good interpersonal skills
**Qualifications and experience**
- A degree in mining, civil, or geological engineering with more than 15 years’ experience relevant to the responsibilities listed above.

Pay: $150,000.00-$180,000.00 per year
