**Aquatic Ecologist - Regulatory Specialist (Full Time, Permanent)**

Our Ecologists are experts in their field, bringing their combined technical and project management support to every project to help guide their teams and clients to success.

We are seeking an Aquatic Ecologist with depth of experience in regulatory framework and permitting: a technical professional who thrives on bringing the pieces together and being a go-to project coordinator. An emerging leader, keen on transferring their knowledge and experience within their team.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- Minimum of five years of experience consulting in Aquatic Ecology, or equivalent industry experience;
- Skilled at scoping and developing aquatic field programs;
- Demonstrated proficiency preparing Information Gathering Forms, Avoidance Alternative Forms and Overall Benefit Permits;
- Experience with provincial and federal environmental regulatory procedures (environmental impact assessments/studies, due diligence studies, habitat restoration) and natural heritage policies in Ontario;
- Experience with DFO Requests for Review and Authorizations under the federal Fisheries _Act_;
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; and,
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
**Additional Bonus Variables (Not required, but good to have)**:

- Established aquatic field skills including field investigations/inventories, monitoring assessment techniques, and/or habitat assessments;
- Headwater Drainage Feature Assessment training;
- Ontario Benthos Biomonitoring Network (OBBN) training;
- Ontario Wetland Evaluation (OWES) certification;
- Class I Electrofishing/Class II Backpack Electrofishing;
- MTO/DFO/MNR Fisheries Specialist Certification Course;
- Ontario Stream Assessment Protocol Training (OSAP);
- MTO RAQS Qualifications;
- Ecological Land Classification training; and
- Public, rightsholder and stakeholder consultation.
