Cook / Food Handler

Next to Mom is a licensed child care center in Belmont ON, just 10 minutes from the 401 on Hwy 74. We are licensed for 117 children. 68 Full day children and 49 before and after children.
- Must have a valid food handler certificate.
- Must have experience in cooking for large amounts of people at one time (banquet / batch cooking skills)
- The food handler will prepare food as outlined on a 4-week menu rotation and with the principles of safe food handling in mind.
- Collaborate with Managers to develop bi yearly / seasonal menus
- Record temperatures of appliances and food on a daily basis.
- Complete food waste logs.
- Record menu changes.
- Monitor food inventory and rotate as necessary.
- Develop grocery, supply lists on a weekly, bi-weekly basis.
- Maintain recipes in an organized manner.
- Follow health regulations as defined in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, Southwestern Public Health Unit, Fire Department and Next to Mom policies and procedures.
- Ensure the kitchen is maintained in a clean and safe condition throughout the day.
- Able to climb stairs with food bins as there are 3 levels.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment and self-motivated
- Experience working in a kitchen environment.
- Current First Aid / CPR - C certificate
