Our manufacturing facility is gearing up for growth, and we are looking for an energetic and motivated
**Lead Carpenter / Foreman, ideally with experienced in Mass Timber construction,** to join our team.

In this new role, you will oversee our construction and carpentry processes and lead the onsite installation of our pre-fabricated mass-timber structures. You will be responsible for reading and interpreting project blueprints, preparing mass timber panels, installing mass-timber components, troubleshooting and resolving construction issues, and ensuring all project specifications and quality standards are met. You will also play a key role in maintaining project deliverables and schedules, ensuring that deadlines and projects are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.

This position reports to the Production Engineer and works collaboratively with multiple individuals within our multi-disciplinary team.

**Education & Qualifications, Required**:

- Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter certification preferred

Nice to Haves, but can be certified on the job:

- BCIT Micro-Credential in Mass Timber, an asset
- Class I forklift license
- Level 1 or 2 Occupational First Aid certification
- WHIMS

**Skills & Experience, Required**:

- 5+ years of progressive experience with ground-up commercial or residential construction
- Previous experience as a Lead Hand
- Ability to read and interpret building drawings, spec sheets, shop drawings, building codes, and WorkSafeBC regulations.
- Computer skills.
- Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.
- Good understanding of quality control principles
- Willingness to practice safe work habits and report unsafe conditions.

Nice to Haves, but could be learned on the job:

- Experience with mass timber is an asset.
- Passive House experience is an asset.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Experience with prefabrication of mass timber panels and modules, including finishing.

**The Role & Responsibilities - Lead Carpenter / Foreman, Mass Timber**:

- Oversee and manage the onsite construction and installation of mass timber structures.
- Read and interpret project blueprints and plans to determine the scope of work and delegate tasks to team members accordingly.
- Preparing and cutting mass timber panels to the required size and shape using hand and power tools such as saws, drills, and routers
- Installing mass timber components in accordance with project specifications and safety standards
- Ensuring that all finished products meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Troubleshooting and solving any issues that arise during construction.
- Maintain project schedules to ensure projects are completed as planned.
- Work with the project team to mitigate and schedule issues.
- Ensure site materials, supplies, and tools are purchased and forecasted.
- Ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and repaired.
- Conducting site visits and surveys to assess the condition of existing structures or to gather information for new construction projects.
- Collaborating with other trades on-site to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.
- Ensure all tasks are performed efficiently and safely; this includes receiving, offloading, staging, installation, and site finishing.
- Collaborating with architects and engineers to ensure that designs can be translated into functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing mass timber structures.
- Assisting with estimating the quantity and cost of materials needed for each project.
- Assist with the planning of installation logistics, erection methodology, load sequencing, crane placement, equipment requirements, workforce planning, scheduling, QA plans, and other requirements.
- Providing input into the development of new pre-fabricated mass timber products or designs.
- Prepare field review reports and stay up to date with project communication.
- Execute deficiency and warranty activities.
- Maintain appropriate documentation including safety records, progress reports, rental records, and logs.
- Continuously learning and implementing new techniques and technologies to improve the construction process.
- Train and supervise junior team members and ensure that they follow safety protocols and carpentry quality standards.
