Warehouse Assistant
- Are you looking for a summer position where you can make a significant impact in the local community? _The Mississauga Food Bank’s vision is **a Mississauga where no one goes hungry.** Our mission is to relieve hunger in Mississauga by providing and promoting access to healthy and appropriate food for people in need.

**Objectives**
- Assist in the day to day operations of the warehouse
- Work with TMFB’s inventory management system to improve functionality, delineate processes, and improve communication between warehouse systems
- Assist Manager/Supervisor with reporting
- Assist Transportation Coordinator with truck scheduling through our Fleetmatics GPS truck monitoring/routing system.

**Responsibilities**

**Food Distribution**
- Ensure orders from TMFB agencies are entered into the inventory system based on TMFB’s standard order spreadsheet/online order form and adjusted accordingly based on food banks weekly needs
- Ensure there are no duplicate agencies/vendors in the system and that all agencies/vendors have an account number from Raiser’s Edge (our Development team software) attached to their profile
- Assist operators with order picking, fridge/freezer organization and management, and greeting and assisting donors

**Transportation**
- Assist with truck deployment including run sheets, scheduling, and routing, using Fleetmatics software and/or other tools as required

**Reporting**
- Assist Manager/Supervisor with reporting, up to and including, weekly reports to TMFB Directors, Food Banks Canada, Feed Ontario,
- Produce statistical reports as scheduled and requested

**Other Marketing Tasks**
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Housekeeping

**Mandatory Qualifications**

To be eligible, applicants must:

- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations

**Desired Skills and Experience**
- Passion. A passion for mission-driven work and personal values aligned with those of TMFB. Concern for and interest in issues of poverty, food security, and/or social justice
- Planning/Organization/Project Management. Determine strategies to move projects forward, set goals and focus on priorities, create/implement action plans/budgets, document, evaluate, and learn
- Communication/Relationship Building. Speak, listen, and write in a clear, confident, respectful, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques. Internal and external networking and relationship building skills. Conscientious and high attention to detail, understanding attention to detail makes the difference between mediocre and excellent customer service.
- Technical. Computer proficiency with strong skills in MS Office and/or Google Apps (Especially Excel/Sheets) for business; familiarity with logistics software; familiarity with CRM software. TMFB is a cloud-based, paperless environment.
- Evidence-Based Decision Making/Problem-Solving skills. Draw insightful conclusions from information. Create plans that are informed by research, data, and experience. Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of TMFB
- Flexibility/adaptability. Flexible, versatile, and/or tolerant in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency. Adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions. Cope effectively with complexity and change
- Proactivity/Enthusiasm/Persistence. Act without being told what to do. Passionate and excited about work. Can-do attitude. Tenacious and goes the distance to complete work. Ability to work autonomously while being aware of the importance of accountability
- Hold a valid driver's license and has regular access to a vehicle
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality at all times
