**Brief Overview**:
Métis Nation-Saskatchewan is seeking a passionate individual to support Métis involvement in archaeological activities across the province and contribute to the protection of our vital cultural heritage. This position will support both the Consultation and Engagement department within the Ministry of Lands and Environment, as well as the Culture & Heritage department within the Ministry of Education. The role will build capacity within MN-S to engage with the province and project proponents on the culturally appropriate handling of archaeological sites, the proactive mapping and protection of these sites, and the development and implementation of culturally informed curation and management practices for Métis artifacts.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Report to the MN-S Lands and Consultation Manager as well as supporting the Manager of Culture and Heritage.
- Develop and support ongoing discussions with rights-bearing communities regarding cultural sites, and archeological findings.
- Establish relationships with Elders, Knowledge Carriers, and communities to develop best practices for the handling and curation of cultural artifacts.
- Work with stakeholders such as the Royal Saskatchewan Museum and others on implementation of practices.
- Seek long term funding to provide longer term capacity for the Nation in space.
- Conduct mapping exercises with community members and support map digitization in collaboration with Traditional Land Use staff.
- Work with the Elders Coordinator to develop and establish relationships with Elders, Knowledge Carriers, and communities to develop an MN-S approach to potential future museum developments.
- As an Environmental Team Member, develop and set strategic professional and department goals and objectives in coordination with the Environmental Team.
- As a support for Culture & Heritage, develop and set strategic professional department goals and objectives in coordination with the Culture & Heritage Team ensuring alignment with Environment goals and objectives.
- Prepare reports which may include monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on environmental and cultural program delivery.
- Support other work within the Ministry, Culture & Heritage, and other departments as required.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with Métis citizens, communities, and organizations.
- Work with Federal program managers to ensure delivery of key aspects of proposals.
- Development of centralized archives and collection of data in accordance with the principles of free, prior, and informed consent of all participants.
- Other duties/responsibilities as determined by the Director of Environment, Conservation Manager, and Culture and Heritage Manager.

- Advanced computer skills including, but not limited to, knowledge of GIS software, Adobe and Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Ability to travel.
- Knowledge of the structure and policies of federal, provincial and MN-S governments
- Knowledge of strategic and operational planning.
- Budgeting, projection, and monitoring skills.
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in areas relating to archeology, anthropology, applied Indigenous studies
- Experience in holding large public events and engagements would be considered as asset.

**Additional requirements**:

- Must undergo a Criminal Record Check
- Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and access reliable transportation
