JOB SUMMARY

The Field Representative is responsible for performing all field activities associated with Customer Service, including disconnects and reconnects as well as the collection of overdue accounts. The Field Representative is also responsible to assist metering with single phase meter changes.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential responsibilities of the job include but are not necessarily restricted to the following:
- Perform disconnects and reconnects of service entry wires and at main switch using fuse pullers- Perform meter pulls to disconnect or reconnect at meter bases- Install timers or load limiting devices at meter base- Install remote disconnected meters and other single-phase residential meters- Perform remote Smart Meter disconnects and reconnects- Prepare and submit documentation of meter changes to the Metering section- Provide support to other Divisions with investigations into possible theft of power incidences, i.e. grow houses- Flash and verify services striving for mínimal customer disruption.- Investigate and resolve customer high bill inquiries for smart meters and remote disconnect smart meters- Investigate and resolve reports of any meter issues- Assess and report any hazardous conditions at customer's premises pertaining to electrical equipment and property per ESA standards- Handle and secure large sums of cash payments, cheques and making payment arrangements, and process and deposit cash at the Bank.- Determine the final field decisions when dealing with collection and disconnection tasks
- evaluate customer's situation and balance with the needs of Collections- Coordinate more complex disconnections and reconnections (e.g. vault shut-downs or kiosk disconnects) with overhead or underground crews- Investigate and manage unresolved overdue accounts- Electronically complete all Field Activities through the customer information system- Update customer accounts in customer information system with information gathered from the field- Follow up and resolve problems experienced by others in accessing meters- Act as a liaison between Hydro Ottawa, the public and outside contractors- Initiate contact with property owners in order to obtain keys, and register information on corresponding customer account- Negotiate the installation of key boxes with the customer to facilitate access to hydro vaults, electrical rooms, etc. in accordance with customer preferences and operational needs- Be extremely vigilant in assessing approach limits for standpipe disconnections and reconnections to avoid inadvertent contact with primary circuits- Ensure relevant Fire Marshall Regulations are adhered to during reconnections to prevent property damage and personal injury- Correctly interpret electrical testing equipment to safeguard against back feed and electrical flashovers- Manage and control pedestrian or vehicle traffic at jobsites to ensure public and personal safety (e.g. placement of traffic cones or other visible barriers)- Maintain and inspect Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on a daily basis and assess condition of live line insulating equipment- Work within the metering accreditation program guidelines- Perform other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- High School Diploma- Minimum 5 years experience working in a high stress Customer Service or Operations environment- Working knowledge of ESA guidelines and policies considered an asset- First aid and WHIMS training considered an asset- Electrical Safety awareness considered an asset

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS- Valid driver’s license - Class G

The terms and conditions of employment for this position are governed by the collective agreement between Hydro Ottawa Limited and IBEW Local 636.
