The Sudbury Yacht Club is looking for a motivated, engaged and dependable team player to fill the role of **SAILING SCHOOL INSTRUCTOR** for the 2023 season.

The SYC supports the sailing community of Sudbury and promotes both recreational and competitive sailing. We are a family-oriented club, open to all who share a common interest in the outdoors, the physics of travel by wind, and the beauty of sailing on a lake right in the heart of our city. In our 60 years of existence, we have provided youth and older adults alike, with the opportunities to practise an environmentally friendly international sporting activity. Our members have gone on to compete at provincial, national, and even international sailing events, helping put Greater Sudbury on the map.

**Type of position**: Contract, Seasonal
**Pay**: Starting at 17.50$ per hour
**Hours**: The number of hours is variable and depends on the number of registrations
**Number of available positions**: 2
**Language**: English a requirement, French an asset

**TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Teach the CANSAil 1 & 2 curriculum school students; children, teens and adult learners as a minimum; Those able to teach CANSAil 3 & 4 curriculum would be an asset.
- Supervise and monitor the progress of students and provide constructive feedback;
- Ensure the safety of the students both on and off the water at all times;
The sailing instructor’s role is integral to the successful operations of the sailing school. They work closely with their peers, the manager of the Sailing School, veteran volunteers and other members of the Sudbury Yacht Club.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- The CANSail 1&2 instructor certification. (A Can Sail 3-4 Instructor Certificate is an asset)
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)
- Must be in Good Standing with Ontario Sailing Association including proof of insurance through OSA
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- A minimum of 1 year sailing instruction experience
- Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening as Sudbury Yacht Club supports OSA Safe Sport Policy
- Language: English a requirement, French an Asset
- As per Canada Summer Jobs program guidelines, all applicants aged 15 to 30 years may be eligible for hire.
