**The Opportunity**

Reporting directly to the Manager, Parks Operations and Forestry, this role is responsible to supervise and oversee the Town’s Urban Forestry and Horticulture programs and review relevant developer related reports. This position will also perform landscape review and approvals for Town road capital projects and inspections of both developer and road capital project implemented landscape. As the Supervisor, Forestry & Horticulture, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

- Supervise and direct unionized staff in the daily operations of the division, including schedules, assignment of responsibilities, efficiency, adherence to policies/procedures, leave requests, training and development, and performance management.
- Plan, coordinate, evaluate, implement, and direct, staff and contractors, the maintenance and operations of all Town of Caledon Urban Forestry and Horticulture trees natural areas.
- Oversee the delivery of Forestry and Horticulture operations including preparing and overseeing the procurement process, contract documentation and providing onsite direction as required.
- Assist the Manager, Parks Operations and Forestry with the implementation of the Parks annual operational plan for Urban Forestry and Horticulture portfolios.
- Participate in the selection of personnel and provide recommendations with respect to work environment, standards, and staffing levels.
- Promote and ensure the health and safety of all assigned personnel, by instructing and monitoring workers in safe work practices, ensuring proper training, enforcing health and safety requirements, correcting unsafe acts and/or conditions, and ensures OHSA adherence.
- Investigate and prepare reports on accidents and incidents associated with Town of Caledon Health and Safety policies.
- Establish and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with staff, industry professionals and community organizations.
- Oversee the Town’s urban forestry tree replacement program.
- Perform preliminary and final inspections for landscape works under the terms of the subdivision and site plan agreement, including reforestation inspections.
- Act as a Town representative with respect to arborist report review and landscape inspections for developers and their designates
- During winter months November to April assist when required, winter sidewalk maintenance throughout the Town
- Prepare and monitor assigned Operating and Capital budgets, prepares cost estimates, manages expenditures, and performs other administrative tasks as required.
- Participate in Operations Departmental on call duties.

This position offers a salary range of $87,909.52 - $104,209.30 plus a competitive benefit package.
