Consideration is now being given to garden centre staffing requirements as we anticipate another busy growing season:
**Plant Maintenance / Sales Support**: These temporary full and part-time positions will require friendly, outgoing individuals with a strong work ethic to assist customers in loading their purchases into their vehicles during the busy spring season (May thru June), with varied outdoor plant maintenance duties throughout the balance of the summer. Duties include but are not limited to weeding, watering, pruning, sweeping, and re-stocking of plants and other garden materials. A commitment to work all spring weekends until mid-June is required, with schedule flexibility thereafter until end of summer. These positions require people in good physical condition.

**Cashiers / Sales Associate**: These temporary full and part-time positions will require individuals with a mature attitude and excellent customer service skills with recent cashier experience. Preference will be given to those individuals with an enthusiasm for plants and the knowledge needed to provide customers with accurate information for continued gardening success. Shifts are flexible, but will require availability for all shift times (days, evenings, weekends). Duties will include processing sales, cash balancing at the conclusion of each shift, directing carry out staff where applicable, and department display maintenance (cleaning, re-stocking, and pricing as required).

**Physical Demands of ALL Garden Centre Positions**:

- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods throughout the workday
- Ability to frequently reach, bend and squat
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
- Ability to work in/outdoors in all weather conditions

**As the business cycle in the garden centre peaks during brief periods, all potential applicants should be aware that work hours will vary somewhat depending on weather and season. A** **flexible schedule with 7-day availability, including evenings, is mandatory**.**

Contract length: 4 months
