Etobicoke, Canada GFL Environmental Full time

GFL Environmental is actively recruiting for a Financial Analyst for our Etobicoke location Providing direct support to the District General Managers and Regional / District Controllers, this person will work closely with the finance and operational personnel of GFL. An experienced Financial Analyst, you enjoy working in a fast paced, growth environment. Possessing strong analytics, you are comfortable working through various finance functions within an organization and have a keen ability to spot and work through opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide creative alternatives & recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
- Identify trends and recommend actions to a District General Managers based on sound analysis.
- Ensure transactions are in accordance with company policy and procedures.
- Track and determine financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with budget / forecasts.
- Work with General Managers to complete the capital request and financial budget for the Districts.
- Consolidate and analyze financial data (budget, forecast, actual)
- Support with preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting requirements
- Support preparation of budgets and forecasts of monthly, quarterly and yearly
- Finalize financial reporting deliverables for month and quarter end.
- Provide variance analysis on a monthly / quarterly basis in accordance with head office deadlines.
- Review operational statistics and report KPl's in accordance with pre-set timelines.
- Lead and support delivery of assigned projects

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Must have 5+ years of month end close, full cycle accounting & financial planning & analysis
- Must have 2+ years of Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Strong attention to detail, and ability to flow through financial transactions.
- Able to support closure on a tight schedule and provide timely analysis of results.
- Must possess a desire to effect change and make a difference in the organization.
- Able to generate superior financial information (including budgeting and forecasting)
- Handle ambiguity and excel in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
- Superior communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent computer skills covering ERP, operational and Microsoft office system.
- knowledge of Great Plains and Cognos, A background in waste would be an asset.
- Primarily in an office environment, some travel may be required from time to time at various company locations.
- Some periodic weekend or evening work is expected during busy seasons.
