We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Business Unit Manager for our Sports Shop

**Job Summary**
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, (dotted line to the York GM) this role will provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing our sports shop and procurement related strategic initiatives.
The Business Unit Manager is a National support role, as well as being accountable for the financial performance of the Sport Shop operations at York. Direct reports for this role include the sports shop assistants at the York complex. This individual will lead the development and execution of a strategic growth-based program for all aspects of the Sports Shop business segment.
The Business Unit Manager is responsible for transforming our sport Shop operations to yield improved customer experience, quality and productivity looking at new retail experiences including online shopping. This role will lead and harmonize the planning and execution processes across our 6 shops to find efficiencies, improve training and merchandizing and look at establishing an Ecommerce model that makes sense for our operation or in partnership with well-established operators in the space. An experienced operationally focused leader and effective change agent with a bias for action and hands on operating in our shops. This position is a hands-on role at one of our GTA Sports Shops acting as the supervisor and Business Unit Manager for our Sports Shop Operations.
**Accountabilities**
Using the Sports Shop operations at York,
- Improve systems, processes, customer service levels, etc
- Identify best practices
- Develop training programs
- Provide Training Level 1 (Theory)
- Monitor customer psychology and behavior and shift the way we operate to adjust to the needs of the customer
- Challenge the status quo to improve and grow the business
- Works in one of our GTA stores as an acting supervisor 4 days per week, which consists of evening and weekend work.
Represent our Sports Shop operations with our Partners i.e. Bauer, CCM etc.
**Support the organization**
- Perform scheduled Operational Support Visits (OSV)
- Develop and keep current, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Ensure that we meet or exceed established Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Ensure that we execute on the annual Operations Playbook
**Work with the Marketing team to develop new ways of serving our customers**
- Challenge the status quo
- Incubate new ideas and concepts
- Work in collaboration with the Sport Shop supervisor to significantly improve the facility sports shop operations.
The incumbent will be responsible assisting the General Manager in all aspects of our Sports Shop Operations and Purchasing including but not limited to:
- Retail Pricing
- Establishing and maintaining approved par levels in each store
- Inventory Controls & Processes and Inventory levels
- Maintaining established inventories in each store to ensure we maintain liquidity in our stock
- Training
- Supplier Selection
- Promotions
- Sales
- Customer Service
- Store Layout & Décor
- Merchandizing - need to standardize between stores
- Buying for apparel, prizes, uniforms and Store Inventories
- Revenue Growth
- Innovation
- Annual Operating Plans
- Managing the Holding Bin
The role provides leadership, counsel, advice and assistance to facility SPORTS SHOP operations; utilizing knowledge of Sport Shop operations and staff resources in order to impact and improve sales, profits, and operating standards while protecting the integrity of the Canlan brand. Mentors, guides and supports each operating unit in delivering on their Annual Operating Plans by improving turn rates, improving buying practices and providing outstanding customer and selling service. This individual will provide ongoing training and support for Sports Shop Managers.

- Regular travel is a key component - Canada. The travel is expected to be 10% of the time outside of the GTA area.
