Hello,

My name is Myra Arsenault. I am a mature student taking Business Administration - Marketing online at Fanshawe. I also volunteer online for Durham Community Care and The Arthritis Society. I am looking for a support assistant to help me access places in the (black) community and to help in my home. They must be LGBTQ+ friendly, be disability educated and have a bright personality.

Pay rate is $18 to $21. With vacation pay on each cheque and public holiday pay. Hours range from 3 to 18. Funding provided from Direct Funding and the Ontario Ministry of Health

**Requirements**:

- Up to date BACKGROUND CHECK (vulnerable sector)
- Availability after 1pm week days and weekend mornings (mandatory Friday afternoons) (Additional availability is helpful)
- Knowledge/ experience of dysautonomia (purple) and mental health
- Patient, positive, clean and cheerful personality
- Respectful of others
- Be organized, punctual, positive and dependable
- Knowledge and ability to navigate in the community
- NON SMOKER OR DRUGS due to allergies
- Updated COVID and FLU vaccines
- RELIABLE VECHILE AND DRIVER'S ABSTRACT
- Understanding of good home hygiene and (blue) cleaning
- Willing to wear full PPE while in the home (not contagious, need of cleanliness - indoor clothing, mask, foot covers)
- Willing to perform basic needs and household tasks
- Maintain confidentiality
- Will be ON CALL for emergencies and unplanned situations (within reason)
- Must be empathetic towards disability symptoms and how they can impact life rules

Tasks
- Attending to emotional, psychological and physical needs while out and at home
- Helping with bags and mobility aids
- Helping with errands, medical appointments and other outings
- Opening doors
- Picking up from food banks and other shops (with out or without the employer)
- Companionship
- Mobility assistance from off of couch and chair during flares
- Monitoring (yellow) during showering due to low BP
- Household assistance: dishes, cleaning, cooking, bringing in the mail, mopping
- Other tasks considered ADLs but cannot do alone due to personal limits
- Provide services in home and elsewhere in the community
- Respond immediately to emergencies: low BP, finding a bathroom, etc
- Blood pressure monitoring

Expected hours: 3 - 18.5 per week
