**Job Description - Seasonal Greenkeeper**

Function/Purpose:
Responsible for the operation of a select number, or all, of the maintenance/construction equipment as well as the performance of physical labour and other job related tasks as assigned. Responsible for the performance of physical labour as assigned to him or her in the area of maintenance, construction, repair and semi-skilled grounds work or related tasks.

Responsible to:
Under direct supervision of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent(s), and/or Course Foreman. From time to time may be directed by Equipment Technician or the Horticulturalist.

Duties, Responsibilities and Authorities (portion OR all of the following):

- Operating all types of golf course and park equipment (pedestrian mowers, utility vehicles, riding mowers, top dresser, aerator, bunker rake, tractors, etc.).
- Operating strimmers, flymowers, push mowers, chainsaw, and other power and hand tools.

- Maintaining bunkers as required.
- Perform course set-up and property tidy (tee markers, hole changes, and garbage collection, etc.)
- Fertilizing greens, tees, and/or approaches as required.
- Laying sod, raking and levelling dirt areas for seeding.
- Assisting in construction of new tees, greens, fairways, retaining walls and any other landscaping construction.
- Pruning trees, shrubs and maintaining flower beds.
- Perform, as assigned, any additional duties which may be required by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent(s), or Course Foreman from time to time.
- Report all golf and facility related problems and incidents to the Superintendent.
- Adhere to all River Bend Golf & Recreation Society policies and procedures.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

- Excellent physical health and able to perform any labour work requested.
- A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's Permit and the ability to operate equipment proficiently when reasonable training and practice time is provided.

- Abilities, Skills and Special Requirements:

- Ability to operate motorized equipment, tractors, etc.
- Ability to operate power and hand tools, (Ex. strimmers, chainsaw, push mowers, etc.)
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- A general knowledge of golf maintenance or landscaping, or the ability to learn.
- Good communicative skills -- both oral and written.
- Must be able to safely operate all golf course equipment and related accessories.
- Willingness to work weekends and shifts.
- Ability to work in an effective and positive manner with general public and other employees.
- Must provide own transportation to and from River Bend.

**Salary**: From $15.00 per hour
