**Reporting and Working Relationships**:

- Reports directly to the Manager of Facility

**Summary**

The custodian position at DRA is a full-time position that comprises a key part of the facility maintenance team. Custodians serve as supervisors to the part-time staff, and are expected to be able to diagnose and handle most maintenance duties independently. The custodian has a thorough working knowledge of a wide variety of industrial cleaning machinery, an in-depth understanding of institutional cleaning protocols specific to a public recreational facility, and is able to perform a variety of minor repairs in plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and more. Custodians work in conjunction with the facility manager to plan and carry out deep cleaning schedules and capital projects.

**Main Duties**

Include but not limited to:

- Operate industrial vacuum cleaners, burnishers, auto scrubbers, power washers, carpet cleaners, paint sprayers, and more
- Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings
- Empty trash cans and other waste containers
- Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs
- Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas
- Remove litter and tend grounds
- Clean and disinfect washrooms and fixtures
- Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing and electrical systems
- Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair
- Water and tend to plants
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies
- Ensure that security and safety measures are in place in the establishment
- Supervise staff: delegate work tasks as needed
- Driving off-site to pick up supplies or complete work at remote sites (McKellar, Van Lang)

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Completion of secondary school or experience in lieu of
- Minimum 5 years of custodial experience in an institutional setting, preferably recreation, with progressive responsibilities
- Experience or certification in a skilled trade an asset
- G-Class License with clean driver’s abstract
- OHS Supervisor Training, First Aid & CPR C, AODA Training, WHMIS/SDS Training are assets

**Details pertaining to the position**
- This position is based on a 40-hour flexible work week, with some evening and weekend requirements.
- This position includes allocation of vacation time and paid sick leave as per the ESA and the Dovercourt Policies and Procedures Manual.
- This position includes a partially subsidized group Health & Dental benefits package, RRSP contributions, and other benefits as per the Dovercourt Policies and Procedures Manual.

Pay: $42,000.00-$46,000.00 per year
