**Position Summary**:
Are you passionate about libraries and dedicated to shaping the next generation of library technicians? The Library and Information Technician (LIT) program is seeking qualified part-time faculty to teach during the Fall 2024 semester.

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Chair of the School of Arts and Science and under the guidance of the LIT program coordinator, an LIT professor is responsible for:
**Teaching**:

- Ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques.
- Incorporating active learning strategies in online, hybrid and in-person classes
- Implementing appropriate educational technology and tools in online, hybrid and in-person classes.
- Carrying out regularly scheduled instruction, which may include tutoring and academic counselling of students.
- Providing a learning environment which makes effective use of available resources, work experience and field trips.
- Evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student's work within assigned courses.

**Course and Curriculum Development**:

- Ensuring an equitable and accessible learning community in online, hybrid and in-person classes.
- Designing formative and summative assessments (alternative and authentic) for online and in-person classes.
- Consulting with program and course directors and other faculty members, advisory committees, professional associations, potential employers and students.
- Developing individualized instruction and multi-media presentations where applicable.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- Master’s degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association.

**Experience**
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a library.
- Prior teaching or training experience is an asset.

**Library Software Experience**:

- Practical working experience and knowledge of various library software used in library operations and the management of electronic resources including:

- Library automation systems (integrated and next generation), discovery layers, OpenURL linking, and other electronic resource management software, Microsoft Access
- Knowledge of library software vendors, options for licensing, software selection and procurement

**Circulation Experience**:

- Practical working experience in circulation, including:

- knowledge of circulation processes, circulation and security technologies, collection maintenance activities, and Copyright.
- Experience performing circulation tasks in an automated library system is required.
- Experience with Alma preferred

**Skills**
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated competencies to deliver in-person, online and hybrid teaching.
- Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to a team approach for problem solving and conflict resolution.
- Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections is an asset. Commitment to equity in education.**Job Details**
