Scope and Purpose:
The Library Clerk, under the supervision of the Assistant Director/ Branch Manager, is responsible

for all aspects of processing, receiving, and sorting delivery materials, and processing patron

records.

Internal relationships include working collegially and productively with all Central Services staff.

External relationships include liaison with community librarians.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Receive and sort materials from daily delivery
- Create item records for materials received
- Processing of library materials
- Produces supply inventory
- Fills requests for supplies from library branches
- Assist in maintaining the patron database
- Assists with the withdrawal of materials from system
- Assist in mail processing
- Assist other departments as assigned
- Work as a contributing member of the Central Services support team
- Work as backup driver for Library Clerk - Driver position
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

- High School Graduation
- Valid driver’s licence
- Computer proficiency, e.g. Microsoft Office; typing at 30 words per minute
- Effective communication and customer service skills; organizational skills; flexibility;
ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of basic office equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to lift and move boxes/mail bins up to 50 pounds
- Bondable

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System and library collections

Knowledge of library procedures and routines

Completed Library Technician Diploma considered an asset

Pay Grade: Library Clerk ($16.39 - $22.05).

Expected hours: 74 per week
