This is a physical position that requires being on your feet, regular lifting and being able to move at a good pace. It is a mid-level job in a fast-paced environment. The position is with a very busy mattress and furniture recycling facility located on Annacis Island (Delta, BC). We are accessible by transit and also have free parking.

A technically-skilled, physical position requiring attention to detail, diligence, good hand-eye coordination, and excellent safety record. Responsible for, but not limited to, optimizing unloading and loading to ensure efficiency and safety. Will maintain a high standard of forklift and machine operation history to avoid unnecessarily wasted time or any unfortunate injuries, damages, or costs.

Forklift and Machine Operator (General Labourer) position. INDOOR work.
- Monday to Friday or 5 days a week of your choice (but the same set ones every week)
- Full-time, permanent
- 8:30 am start time
- We have a strict Attendance Policy. We are a small company and need all staff to report to work as scheduled.

Responsibilities include:

- Unloading delivery vehicles of mattresses, box springs, and furniture
- Manual re-stacking of delivered items may be required if loads are unstable or otherwise unable to be immediately unloaded and moved by forklift
- Loading outbound shipments of salvaged materials without causing any damage of any kind
- Stacking heavy bales of salvaged materials
- Completing documentation related to loads received or sent
- Charging and watering forklift battery, as needed
- Operating and loading heavy recycling equipment, including but not limited to the metal baler, vertical balers and boxspring dismantler
- Complete forklift and equipment inspections and report any issues or repairs needed
- Keeping work area/ warehouse clean
- Following ALL operating and safety procedures and policies, including wearing a respirator (which we provide)
- Meeting realistic quotas and expectations for the volume of material processed
- Other appropriate tasks as needed

**Requirements**:

- Have a valid Forklift Operator certificate and a minimum of 1 year of forklift operator experience.
- Previous heavy machine operation experience is an asset, but any machine operation experience is a good start
- A full understanding of Lock-out/ Tag-out is an asset
- OFA Level 1 valid certification and experience as an asset
- Be comfortable working with technology
- Able to work in a physically demanding job and move items weighing up to 70 pounds
- Hard-working, detail-oriented, efficient, safety-conscious, and able to work independently
- Honest, punctual, responsible, reliable, and a team player
- Able to understand, speak, read, and write in English
- You may be asked to provide a current criminal record check. We also may do online court record checks

**When in the warehouse, you will be required to wear a small respirator (which we provide). Must be clean-shaven as per WorkSafeBC requirements.** We provide all other PPE including safety glasses, face shields, gloves, earplugs, and reflective harness/ vest but you must bring your own steel-toed boots.

Full-time employees are eligible for company-paid health benefits, AD & D coverage, life insurance, flu and tetanus shots, and paid sick leave after a 3-month probationary period. All employees who reach regular weekly hours of 30 hours or more are considered full-time and participate in our Health & Wellness program.

$21.00/hour to start.
