**Job Synopsis**

The Driver and Warehouse Coordinator are available on an ongoing basis for the driving the delivery truck for pick-ups, deliveries and general warehouse tasks at the Thrift Shop.
The Warehouse Coordinator is part of the Shop Leadership Team.

**Qualifications**

Development and Leadership:

- Self-motivated and willing to take initiative, while at the same time responding to the directions of the Manager, and willingness to work as a team with other staff and volunteers.
- Firm commitment to accountability and reliability.
- Strong interpersonal skills; willing and able to work with a variety of people; friendly, outgoing, appreciative, and respectful of volunteers.
- Ability to diplomatically communicate and enforce shop policies.
- Experience in training, mentoring, supervising, and managing staff and volunteers.

Field Expertise:

- Experience in Shipping and Receiving and warehouse management.
- knowledge of the second-hand market with an awareness of regulations regarding selling donated goods.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and waste reduction best practices. Continue to research sustainability practices that will aid in revenue generation of unsellable goods.

Work & Organizational Skills:

- Physical stamina, ability to lift 100 lbs.
- Requires >5 hours of intermittent standing or walking in a regular shift.
- Ability to repeatedly bend or stoop to floor level shelves and be able to reach upper shelves with use of a stool or ladder.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Duties**:
Warehouse Management:

- Assume _full responsibility_ for day to day receiving & distributing of items at the back door.
- Provide excellent customer service to all customers and donors.
- Answer donor questions at point of contact, assess furniture for value and inform donor of decisions regarding donatable items based on inventory control best practices.
- Process furniture upon arrival to the Shop, includes refinish and repair of furniture as needed and placement of furniture on the retail floor.
- Process, test, and repair electronics and hardware donations, ensuring recycling of all recyclable materials
- Regular loads to the Eco-Center for recycling.
- Attending to requests from customers and volunteers.
- General warehouse organization
- Attending to requests from customers and volunteers.

Delivery and Pick-Up
- Drive the company delivery van, practice safe driving and respect for fellow commuters.
- Schedule pick-ups and deliveries. Communicate shop policies regarding acceptable items, policies regarding pick up.
- Communicate with donors when the quality of their donations are not acceptable.
- Perform furniture pickups and deliveries efficiently and with respect for donor homes/business.

Maintenance
- Maintain the logs for the delivery van and power tools used in the shop, scheduling maintenance as required.
- Perform regular building maintenance and ensuring building maintenance records are kept up to date and in compliance with OH&S and City of Edmonton by-laws.

Management Team Responsibilities
- Be proactive in promoting positive public, staff and client relations
- Ability to handle customer, donor and volunteer questions, concerns and conflicts in a professional manner
- Provide back-up support for other managers in their absence or as needed, including opening and closing of shop
- Together with the Shop Management Team, develop strategies to meet revenue and sales targets in your areas of focus
- Work with the Management Team in the operation of the shop to ensure teamwork and a desirable working and shopping environment
- All Management Team members are expected to attend MCCA and Thrift Shop events, including volunteer appreciation events

Health & Safety
- Adhere to Health & Safety Guidelines as established by law and the organization
- Be proactive in maintaining clean workspaces that meet health & safety standards
- Dress Code - **must wear steel toed boots.**

Other
- Assist with maintaining and coordinating the staff / volunteer room
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting Christian respect and Christ's unconditional love to those with whom you work, including colleagues, partner agencies, the homeless and marginalized
- Answer inquiries about MCC from constituency and public; communicate MCC's values.
- Model nonviolent peacemaking through respectful daily interactions with staff and the public
