**Major Responsibilities**:

- Writes, designs, and edits creative copy for a variety of interactive media including the internet, intranet, social media, multimedia presentations, and other promotional tools for various divisional programs, services, and events.
- Ensures that content within the division's internet and intranet sites are integrated, accurate and current. Provides evaluation and analysis of web use statistics and client feedback.
- Consults with business units and provides support to project teams to determine business unit information and web-based service to identify solutions to meet business requirements. Develops, redesigns, and improves workflows, methodologies and processes for maintenance and development of quality information and content.
- Plans, executes, and documents user interviews and usability tests.
- Creates and presents user personas, user experience scenarios and test cases.
- Develops, documents, implements. and monitors adherence to web development and information management standards including style guides, metadata standards, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and other classifications systems for navigation or other categorization needs.
- Assists with the maintenance and development of content libraries consisting of information and design assets in the form of text, photography, graphics, video, and audio.
- Ensures that content providers are trained in writing for the Web by setting standards. Develops, delivers and evaluates training programs and materials.
- Assists in the development of marketing and communications strategies, including coordinated workplans, editorial schedules and stakeholder databases across multiple channels, including social media.
- Provides expertise in the development and design of new web-based products and services, including, but not limited to, training and orientation materials in electronic formats, as the division's information needs evolve.
- Ensures that legal and legislated standards are upheld (e.g., the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Fixing Long-Term Care Act, the Trademarks Act and the Copyright Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act).

**Key Qualifications**:

- Post-Secondary education in Media Studies, Communications, Information Management or Web Content Management, or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable experience using systems and software such as Adobe In Design, Publisher, Sway, WordPress, Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, Piktochart Infographics, to create and publish required materials.
- Experience in information management, including privacy and security of data/records (i.e. CIMS, ImageLibrary).

**You must also have**:

- Well-developed interpersonal skills: proven ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels; exceptional technical, verbal, and written communications skills and ability to establish and maintain a good consulting relationship with stakeholders and vendors.
- Ability to show initiative and self-direction, maintain currency of knowledge, identify and solve problems that require investigation and creativity, and respond flexibly and productively to multiple and changing priorities in a result-oriented team environment.
- Familiarity with and interpretation of Corporate Identity Program, City Style Guide, Digital Content and Design Standards, Multilingual Provisions Policy, Application of City Policies to Social Media Use, in all divisional creative services.
- Knowledge working with Web browsers across multiple platforms, navigational issues and the constraints involved in designing for online media.
- Knowledge in formal and informal usability testing, user research and heuristic analysis, user scenario writing, documentation, test design and Quality Assurance scripting and translating user research into design decisions.
- Knowledge writing and editing content for the web.
- Knowledge with the implementation of web-based Document and Content Management Systems such as Confluence or WordPress.
- HTML, PHP, and CSS experience is considered a major asset.
