**Position Overview**

Skyler Structures is a rapidly growing industry leader in fabric coverings for custom-engineered buildings and executes projects across North America. The Production Operator position is located at the Skyler Structures Office and Warehouse
Manufacturing Facilities located about 30 minutes east of Edmonton in the town of Tofield, Alberta.

The Production Operator, reporting to the Production Manager/Operations Manager, is responsible for supporting the production team, operations of the facility, and overseeing projects to maintain production effectiveness. This role is responsible for a wide variety of duties that will ensure efficient and timely production and meet customer specifications and industry standards.

The Production Operator will perform all tasks related to the manufacturing and quality process in fabricating the covers and end walls, and components for our steel-framed fabric buildings. Production Operators are required to always maintain Safety and Quality Assurance Standards while working productively. The position will assist in process and procedure improvement activities.

**Responsibilities and Accountabilities**

**Responsibilities**:
**1. Operations and Production**
a. Daily set up and tool inspections.

b. Startup and change over set up testing.

c. Quality testing and inspections, daily and in-process.

d. Monitoring: Oversee consumables and equipment stock and request inventory and consumable replenishments via requisition form.

e. Perform tasks including the use of the measuring tape, cutting, sewing, and handling of materials.

f. Facilities Management: Oversee warehousing/storage of equipment, tools, contents, and materials.

g. Lifting and handling of material.

h. Quality control: Examine finished goods produced during the manufacturing process.

i. Communications: Proactively communicate internal and external departments & staff, on an ongoing basis.Relay timelines, constraints and updates to appropriate staff or business units. Demonstrate excellent customer service.

j. Operate lift truck.

k. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with little direction.

l. Ability to produce quality products consistently.

m. Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities.

n. Follow all safety procedures and watch for the well-being of fellow workers.

o. Operate all equipment in a safe and proper manner to prevent injury or equipment damage.

p. Always maintain a safe and clean work environment.

q. Attend and participate in regular production meetings.

r. Listen attentively and use speaking skills to ask questions when expectations are not understood.

s. Stay informed of matters pertaining to their job and develop personnel growth opportunities.

**2. Other**
a. Assist in preparing/processing supply orders, pulling materials, packing boxes, placing orders in delivery staging areas.

b. Sort, pack, crate, and pack materials and products.

c. Promote clean shipping supply area by complying with Company procedures, rules, and regulations.

d. Assisting of loading, unloading, and securing of materials per Company requirements.

e. Operate small machinery, equipment and basic hand and power tools.

f. May perform minor maintenance on equipment.

g. Other duties as required.

**Job Details**

**1. Schedule**
a. Monday to Friday, between regular working hours 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

b. Work outside of the regular hours may be required during peak-seasons.

c. Frequent physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as reaching, lifting, balancing, walking, stopping, bending, and handling of materials.

d. Frequent lifting and moving of objects from 5-65lbs unassisted.

e. Occasional lifting and moving of objects over 65lbs.

f. Working at heights may be required.

g. Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.

h. Working outside of the warehouse, in the yard, in varying weather conditions as required.

i. Frequent work with hand tools, small power tools, small machinery (sewing machines, sergers), small, motorized equipment/vehicles.

j. Working while wearing PPE such as a hardhat, high-visibility vest, harness, eye-protection, steel-toed boots.

k. Occasional travel may be required.
