POSITION: Laundry Aide

REPORTS TO: Environmental Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITES:

- Follows procedures for the cleaning and care of equipment as well as the

measurement and proper use of supplies.
- Provides procedures for the cleaning and care of equipment as well as the

measurement and proper use of supplies.
- Provides for the prevention and control of the transmission of infections.
- Provides for the safe transport of clean and sorted linen.
- Provides for the laundering and cleaning of the residents’ personal

clothing, and all linens used for the delivery of resident care.
- Follows guidelines for job and task performance requirements.
- Sort clothing for machine washing and dry cleaning.
- Follow up and take action an all reports of lost clothing.
- Regularly check for misplaced or unlabeled articles.
- Stores clean linen on resident care units readily available to staff.
- Inspect and discard worn linen and to detect linen requiring repair.
- Keeps clean and soiled linen separate at all times.
- Uses separate laundry carts for pick up of soiled linen, and the distribution

of clean linen.
- Takes soiled linen to the soiled storage or laundry area in covered bins or

clean bags. Where the laundry services are conducted in-house.
- Provide mending and ironing services for residents.
- Responsible for the washing and drying of all linen and laundry, including

residents’ personal laundry.
- Responsible for the safe, proper and efficient operation of all equipment in

the laundry department.
- Responsible for the inventory and control of laundry supplies and

products.
- Keep the facility supplied with adequate clean laundry.
- Communicate with the nurse regarding the necessity for special care of

linens or clothing.
- Understand and practice infection control technique.
- Advise Environmental Supervisor of the need to replenish or dispose of

linens.
- Be able to understand and obey all fire and safety regulations.
- Keep all laundry facility rooms neat and clean.
- Mending, labeling, ironing and alterations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Have Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Free from communicable disease.
- Able to understand and work with laundry equipment
- Mature with an interest in gerontology
- Facilitate in both official languages an asset.

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $18.20-$20.91 per hour

Additional pay:

- Overtime pay

Flexible language requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift

COVID-19 considerations:
Masks are worn and everyone must pass active screening and rapid testing done at the front door. Proper PPE is provided as required.

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Prescott, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
