**The Role**:
Reporting to the Manager of Technology Services, the Security Analyst is responsible for implementation and management of cybersecurity control systems, policies and infrastructure in order to continually strengthen the organization’s security posture and ensuring Microsoft security best practices are followed.
More specifically, the key responsibilities of the Security Analyst include, but are not limited to:
- Managing and maintaining security tools (SIEM, antivirus, intrusion detection, etc.) and monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing transactional and audits logs and data collected,
- Working with others to implement, administer and maintain a secure M365 Platform,
- Participates in system designs, architecture discussions, and reviews to ensure security best practices are followed,
- Developing, implementing and enforcing cybersecurity policies and procedures across the organization,
- Providing technical guidance to staff, sharing security knowledge experience,
- Promoting and delivering cybersecurity awareness programs to users,
- Preparing and presenting reports, security metrics and recommendations to the TNRD Board of Directors,
- Developing incident response plans, testing and updating as required,
- Identifying, investigating, coordinating, communicating, and documenting responses to IT security breaches,
- Communicating with external service providers and vendors regarding cybersecurity interests,
- Collaborating and working effectively with other departments.
- Performing other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.
This work is performed under minimum supervision and requires the exercise of independence of judgement and action in the work's technical, operational, and problem-solving aspects and the ability to assess business requirements for the organization.
This position is based out of the TNRD Civic Building which is located in the heart of downtown sunny Kamloops. The vibrant TNRD Civic Building also houses the Kamloops Downtown Library, the Kamloops Art Gallery and a busy café.
- Job RequirementsRequired Education and Experience
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Systems or an IT-related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 5+ years’ experience with a focus on cybersecurity
- One or more security certifications; CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), SANS GIAC Information Security Fundamentals (GISF)
- Experience with security tools and technologies such as: Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Antivirus (AV), Network Access Control (NAC) systems, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and Vulnerability scanners and firewalls
- Experience with scripting languages, such as PowerShell and Python
Required Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of cyber security standards, security principles, best practices, vulnerability scanning, penetration testing and evaluation methods for security controls
- Proven effectiveness in clearly presenting written and verbal information, managing conflict and develop effective working relationships internally and externally to the organization
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects or issues simultaneously and meet required deadlines
Qualifications that would be considered an asset:
- Experience with AWS, and Azure Security platforms
- Experience working in a government setting
- ITIL training would be an asset.
This is a non-union position, with a starting salary of $87,233 and a competitive comprehensive benefits package being offered. Typical working hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm, but work outside of typical working hours may be required at times to address security requirements.
