This position is scheduled to commence in July 2023.

Reporting to the Secretary Treasurer, this position assists with payroll and payroll related accounting functions. This position is responsible for providing efficient, effective, and timely payroll administration in a confidential, professional, and competent manner while working under strict deadlines. These duties are performed under the policies and guidelines of the Lord Selkirk School Division, Manitoba Employment Standards and any other legislated requirements. The Payroll Assistant must present a positive and professional image for all staff and others.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assists with ensuring that all staff salaries and wages are properly paid on a regular schedule in accordance with collective agreements and employment standards.
- Assists with ensuring that accurate payroll records are maintained in accordance with applicable federal and provincial regulations and division policies and procedures.
- Assists with ensuring accuracy of time and absence data entered either manually or electronically.
- Files payroll information in individual employee files.
- Assists with T4 and T4A preparation and distribution.
- Invoices outside organizations (Manitoba Education, Unions, etc.) for payroll costs for release time.
- In absence of Payroll Administrator, reconciles, prepares and submits all payroll related source deduction and employee benefits remittances on a timely basis to the Secretary Treasurer for approval.
- Respond to questions regarding pay calculations and deductions.
- Assist with issuing Records of Employment.
- Provide support to school staff for employee time and absence reporting.
- Other duties shall be assigned as required.

Qualifications:

- 3+ years of recent experience in a payroll environment and/or education and work experience within a payroll environment.
- Canadian Payroll Association certification would be an asset.
- Must be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet frequent deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.

Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check will be required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $22.50 per hour
