**Position Description**:
Reporting to the Manager/Sr. Manager, the Glassware Washer is responsible for the collection of all used glassware, cleaning and sterilizing for re-use before delivering back to research floors and the department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine. The Glassware Washer will also respond to any customer requests that require processing of special research tools as well as aqueous solutions for decontamination and sterilization.

**Shift: Part Time-20 hrs a week-Various shifts between the hours of 7:00am-4:00pm**_- Monday
- Friday._**

Although this posting indicates an initial area of assignment and shift, the Hospital reserves the right to assign to other areas of assignment and shifts as deemed necessary.

**Here's What You'll Get To Do**:

- Collects and washes used glassware and plastic ware.
- Prepares glassware for users by sorting, adding tops, packaging, and labeling.
- Sterilizes processed general use glassware and plastic ware.
- Collects specialized items from researchers and sterilizes according to each lab¿s special requirement
- Maintains stock and supplies of all materials handled.
- Delivers various materials to the appropriate section and puts them away.
- Handles potential infectious materials, strong detergents, caustic and acid cleaning solutions, using the proper methods, protective equipment, and safety clothing
- Performs other duties as required (including filling tip boxes, distribute/pick up lab coats /glassware sweeps/etc.) within the Research Institute.

**Here's What You'll Need**:

- Grade 12
- Familiarity with autoclaves, hot air ovens, automatic washers, pipette plugger, and other sterilization equipment is an asset.
- Strong Communication skills required. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Must be accurate and detailed in work habits.
