**Overall Responsibility**

The EHS Manager is responsible for supporting CASL’s operations by: 1) Maintaining an impactful CASL Safety performance management system, 2) Managing EHS-related programs and certifications across all CASL sites, and 3) Maintaining and improving CASL’s Safety culture. The EHS Manager is CASL’s corporate level safety leader and is a key contributor to driving change and improvement throughout all CASL divisions.

**Specific Responsibilities**
- Safety Program Development: Develop and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures aligned with provincial regulations, industry best practices, and organizational goals.
- Compliance Monitoring: Monitor organizational compliance with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards. Conduct regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify potential hazards, evaluate safety performance, and recommend corrective actions.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and assess workplace hazards, including physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic risks. Develop and implement control measures to minimize or eliminate risks, ensuring the safety and well-being of employees.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees, supervisors, and management, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their work safely. Promote safety awareness through communication campaigns, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, injuries, or near misses. Identify root causes, contributing factors, and lessons learned to prevent future occurrences. Implement corrective actions and monitor their effectiveness.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid protocols, and crisis management strategies. Conduct drills and exercises to test preparedness and ensure employees are prepared for emergencies.
- Safety Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate safety records, including incident reports, training records, inspections, and corrective actions. Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required. Analyze safety data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for proactive safety initiatives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with provincial safety regulations, standards, and best practices. Ensure the organization's policies and procedures align with legal requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement in safety performance by analyzing data, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing proactive measures.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications, such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), are desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of Alberta's occupational health and safety legislation, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing COR-certified safety programs in a high-risk industry or environment.
- Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively train, educate, and influence employees at all levels of the organization.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to investigate incidents and develop practical solutions.
- Proficient in conducting safety audits, inspections, and assessments.
- Familiarity with emergency preparedness planning and incident management.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Professionalism, integrity, and commitment to promoting a positive safety culture.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite of programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, PowerBI, Teams)
