The primary purpose of this position is to provide support for the various activities of the University by sourcing, purchasing, controlling inventory, and receiving materials and supplies.

Reporting to the Director, Supply Management Services, this position is responsible for ensuring the UR Stores’ receiving functions are received in a timely manner. Work is varied and ranges from routine to moderate complexity, including basic accounting and financial record keeping, inventory management, and tracking shipment of goods. This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of the store within Supply Management Services and adapts outlined policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure shipments of goods are accurately and effectively received. Supervision responsibilities may include to train and backfill temporary staff, as appropriate.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the procurement for materials and supplies for Stores as it relates to various activities and needs of the University.
- Deliver all of the Stores’ and Receiving services by coordinating and monitoring of these operational services.
- Collaborate in the development, coordination, and implementation of internal policies and procedures associated with the operational requirements within Stores and Receiving.
- Research and source materials, supplies and services, as appropriate.
- Monitor control systems to ensure the integrity of Stores’ procurement and receiving process, and follow the University’s policies and procedures for procurement.
- Develop and maintain a detailed working knowledge of designated commodities and suppliers.
- Manage Store inventory control by maintaining maximum and minimum stock levels, special orders, high movers, special handling conditions, costs and timely orders.
- Monitor issues with prices of inventory based on received and invoiced costs.
- Handle and dispense bulk chemicals, compressed gasses, and liquid nitrogen, as required.
- Prepare data input into the computerized system for inventory, sales, and adjustments.
- Confirm accuracy and condition of goods, enter stock into the inventory system and perform barcoding activities as required.
- Assure safe chemical handling procedures are maintained in Stores; provide Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) where requested or applicable.
- Prepare sales reconciliation reports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

**Education and Experience**:

- Grade 12 supplemented by 2 years of experience training in inventory control operations and/or accounting/bookkeeping, preferably in a storekeeping or store management role.
- SCMA Inventory and Operational Management Course or Certification.
- WHMIS certificate.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TGH) Certificate.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Forklift certified.
- Experience using WHMIS and TDG procedures.
- Experience working with an inventory management system.
- Working knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in word processing software and spreadsheet packages, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook-GroupWise).
- Working knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in using University database systems: Banner, FAMIS, or equivalent complex databases.
- Experience using pallet jacks, forklifts, barrel movers, etc. needed to perform daily tasks.

- Must be safety conscious as dangerous goods, chemicals and other related supplies could be part of the daily environment.
- Must be resourceful, self-motivated, creative and enjoy working with a variety of personalities.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills, written and oral, with working knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in using various communication tools.
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with competing deadlines and constant interruptions.
- Ability to relate effectively with faculty, staff, students and the public while exercising a considerable degree of initiative, judgment and discretion regarding confidentiality and diplomacy.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision making/problem solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a busy office setting is required.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal guidance.
