The Multicultural Outreach Worker, Pemberton (MOW) focuses on delivering programs and activities to build the collective capacity of immigrants and newcomers by providing opportunities for peer support development while developing participants’ communication and essential life skills through the Pemberton Multicultural Network (PMN). The MOW actively advocates for and works to build greater equity, diversity, and inclusion.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Actively support immigrants and newcomers to increase their connection to their new community through cultural sharing, community kitchens and gardens, networking, life skills and parenting workshops, and multicultural celebrations
- Maintain established PMN activities while identifying additional/alternative needs and opportunities to engage newcomers & immigrants to develop greater community connections and life skills to support adaptation to life in Canada
- Connect, and maintain regular communication, with newcomers and immigrants in the community via a range of channels including face-to-face, internet and by supporting the PMN online social media network
- Plan and facilitate social events, group activities, workshops etc. to provide leadership, cultural, and mentorship training as well as volunteer opportunities
- Keep immigrants & newcomers updated with opportunities for volunteering, networking and other events and activities
- Promote PMN programs in the community and participate in networking and coalition building with other service providers, agencies, communities, organizations, and institutions providing service to clients
- Perform other duties as required
- Maintain client records, program statistics, and reports and provide regular updates to the Executive Director / the Program Manager / the funder, as required
- Participate in staff meetings, and professional development/training

**Qualifications/Experience**:
More important than qualifications/experience are:

- Self-motivation, flexibility, and ability to work independently and to leverage tools and resources in a creative way
- Interest in building diversity, inclusion and equity particularly in intercultural environments
- Ability to build strong working relationships, good team player, and experience working with culturally-diverse and racialized individuals

Qualifications/experience valued include:

- Fluency in English (spoken and written) and preferably at least one other language
- Effective interpersonal and intercultural communication, and organizational skills
- Flexibility and ability to be a self-starter and take initiative
- Knowledge of the Pemberton community, local immigrant cultural and ethnic groups, and the services/resources available
- Networking and relationship building skills, and ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
- Ability to work effectively with other professionals and partners in the community
- Good computer skills; Outlook, Excel, Word
- Ability to maintain records, statistics, and all required documentation and to provide reports on activities as required

**Hours and terms of work**:

- 8 hours per week: part-time, permanent (with opportunity to expand)
- flexible hours
- some remote working

**Requirement**: Satisfactory Criminal Record Check

**Pay range**: $24.57 to $28.04 per hour plus vacation and paid statutory holidays, depending on qualifications and experience.

**Salary**: $24.67-$28.04 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 8 per week
