**The Opportunity**
Mosaic is seeking an **Area Planner **to work out of our Campbell River, BC office.

**The Role**
Reporting to the General Manager, Operations - North Island, the Area Planner is responsible for planning area harvesting and road building, and ensuring all field layout, surveying, mapping design activities, and permitting are effectively managed. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Safely planning and directing operations projects and activities for assigned areas;
- Managing field layout, surveying activities, mapping activities, and design activities, in collaboration with Contract Engineers and Contract Managers;
- Actively participating in field auditing contract planning work, conducting cut block and road layout, mentoring field staff, and identifying and resolving issues;
- Delivering road and harvest plans to the Contract Manager and supporting the safe execution of these activities;
- Working with First Nations to ensure operational activities respect cultural values;
- Coordinating the design, installation, inspection, assurance, and maintenance of bridges;
- Providing input into contract management activities including supporting contract development, rate negotiations and issue resolution; and
- Supporting the implementation of area operations projects and initiatives.

**Required Skills and Experience**
- RFT or RPF eligibility or accreditation with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP);
- Technical Diploma in Forestry or equivalent;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent;
- 2+ years forest engineering experience with coastal experience is preferred but not required;
- Demonstrated competence in cut block layout;
- Practical knowledge of timber harvesting systems;
- Understanding of applicable regulations, legislation, and certification systems (ISO 14001 and SFI);
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to self-direct and effectively organize work; and
- Ability to plan and prioritize resources.

**Compensation**
The annual salary range for this position is $88,000 to $110,000. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, and education.
