**Casual Camp Counsellor**

**Reports To**: Education Manager

Our Mission:
To inspire curiosity through enriching and entertaining experiences of the 1000 Islands Region of the St. Lawrence River.

Nature and Scope:
The Off-Season Camp Counsellor provides leadership and hands-on support for the camp operations (PA Days & Holiday Camps) at Aquatarium under the supervision of the Education Manager. This position will be responsible for:

- Deliver amazing experiences to all campers through detailed programming and leadership under the supervision of the Education Manager.
- Responsible for the communication with the Education Manager.
- Assist, when applicable, with the planning and development of camp activities.

**Great for students that attend a school within the UCDSB or CDSBEO.**

Duties and Responsibilities:
Camp Programming
- Responsible for the hands-on delivery of camp programming each day.
- Work with the Education Manager to ensure materials and supplies are available, organized, and ready for each day of camp.

Administration
- Responsible for ensuring privacy and confidentiality of all personal information of campers and parents.

Health and Safety
- Ensure all Health, Safety and Risk Management policies and procedures are followed at all times, by all camp participants.
- Support the maintenance of a safe, clean, and well-organized camp environment.
- Responsible for the daily health and safety of their camp group.

Communication
- Build and maintain relationships with campers and parents.
- Communicate effectively with parents, camp staff and other staff members within the organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Effective communication in problem solving and resolution.

Customer Service
- Maintain high standards of professionalism at all times.
- Responsible for providing parents with daily updates on the child's progress and any relevant camp news.
- Serve as an example and mentor for all campers.
- Able to work independently or as a team member.

Sundry
- Any other duties as assigned by the Education Manager.

Qualifications:

- Post secondary education related to Child and Youth Care, Recreational Leadership, Outdoor Management, Education, would be considered an asset.
- 1 year experience in a camp environment.
- Enjoy working outdoors.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to follow directions effectively.
- Leadership ability.
- Experience in resolving and managing challenging situations.
- Demonstrated effective time management, organization, and communication skills.
- Experience using computers and Microsoft Office.
- Clean and updated Criminal Records Check.
- Updated Standard First Aid and CPR C.
- Bilingual (English/French) or fluency in other languages is considered an asset.

Compensation:

- Pay Rate $ 17.20 per hour
- Start Date: October 2024
- End Date: June 2025

- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Brockville, ON K6V 0C4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
