**Job Summary**:
The Farm Market Assistant reports to the Urban Farm Supervisor and works as part of a team to ensure the Farm produce is made available to the Community through various sales outlets. Also, the Farm Market Assistant ensures that donated produce is made available and distributed to various Archway programs and community organizations who assist low-income families and individuals. This role is responsible for overseeing Urban Farm’s successful presence at Farmers’ Markets and for overseeing the Farm’s social media on a weekly basis. This position will engage with customers (individuals and wholesale) at Farmers’ Markets, on-site sales, and via the Farm’s on-line sales page. This position will assist with workshops and events at the Farm, with market harvest days, and with crop production as needed. Weekend work is required, along with some evenings.

**Your Role**:

- Coordinating and hosting the sales booth at the local Farmer’s Market each Saturday, and at other events as required.
- Managing and updating produce stock and volume listings on the online order page.
- Engaging with local restaurants and stores to develop sales outlets for Farm Produce.
- Managing customer orders from the online order web page, ensuring prompt response and deliveries.
- Delivering produce to companies, customers, Archway programs, and community organizations, as required.
- Coordinating and hosting family-friendly events such as Seeding Sales, U-Pick Harvest Events, Seniors Tea, and workshops throughout the summer.
- Partnering with internal and external programs, including community organizations, to deliver on-site tours, community awareness sessions and initiating garden-related activities for adults, youth, and school-aged children, as needed/desired.
- Assisting in maintaining the Urban Farm’s social media on a weekly basis.
- Representing Archway Urban Farm at community education events such as Berry Fest.
- Assisting with crop production and harvesting crops.

This position is a great fit for someone who likes physical outdoor work with crops, farming, and gardening.

**Our Offer**
- Wage: $19.00 per hour.
- A part-time position at 24 to 30 hours per week, availability Tuesdays to Sundays, with weekend work required.

**Getting an Interview - you will be considered if you have**:

- A high school diploma with experience in crop management OR a diploma or degree in Horticulture, Biology, Agriculture, Agriculture Science, Agriculture Business, Crop Science, Crop Production, or in a related discipline, OR a combination of education and experience.
- Experience in marketing, sales and customer service is preferred.
- Experience in farming is an asset.
- Experience in the coordination of events is an asset.
- Experience working with children is an asset.
- Experience in the use of social media an asset.
- Experience with photography an asset.

**The Job Requires you to have**:

- A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Your own transportation to and from work and ability to drive to and from farmers’ markets and events as needed.
- This position requires physical labour related to preparing and taking produce to market and setting up and taking down the sales booth.
- The position will include periods of motion including walking, and repetitive tasks, lifting, and long periods of standing.
- Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., tent, table, crates, and tubs).
- Ability to work weekends and/or evenings to assist with Farm Market sales.
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
- Knowledge and understanding of food safety and safe working procedures.
- Ability to adhere to health and safety protocols.
- A completed Fitness Test is a condition of employment.
- A satisfactory criminal records check is a condition of employment.
- An up-to-date Tetanus vaccine is strongly recommended.
