**About the Position**

**About the Spatial Technologies Applied Research and Training (**START**) Centre**
- START is a leader in spatial technology applied research and works with partners to enable
them to:

- conduct partnership-based applied research projects that solve real-world problems using spatial technologies;
- develop spatial technologies that can be commercialized;
- integrate spatial technologies into business models and workflows;
- access cutting-edge XR technology, expertise and best practices; and
- provide experiential learning opportunities to Lethbridge Polytechnic students and grads.

**Position Details**

**Responsibilities**
- Research and recommend appropriate ML models for procedural animation, speech recognition, LLM
- Configure ML server for training and operation
- Work with research and design team to develop strategies for complex virtual human behavior including but not limited to speech dynamics, body language, emotional state, and reaction
- Seek grant opportunities and assist in writing proposals
- Contribute to research writing and publications
- Collaborate with researchers, ITS, interns, and external partners

**Required Qualifications**

**Minimum Qualifications**
- MSc degree or equivalent in computer science, machine learning, computational media design with a proven track-record
- Demonstrated industry experience with ML and software development
- Experience with C++, C#, Python
- Experience configuring ML workstation and server environments
- Experience with choosing, implementing, and training/testing ML models
- Experience with open sourced LLM
- Experience developing ML based tools
- Hands-on experience with deep-learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Functions well in collaborative team with diverse backgrounds and experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

- Experience with industry-leading game engines such as Unity/C# or Unreal Engine/C++
- Experience with generative AI training
- Experience with Large Language Model customization techniques
- Experience with computer vision and video analysis

**Salary**
- Starting from $36.14 per hour to $42.51 per hour; commensurate with education and experience.
