**ABE Pathways Project Coordinator**
**Main Campus
Native Education College (NEC) opened in 1967 and became British Columbia's largest private Indigenous College. NEC’s
purpose is to contribute to an Indigenous, holistic experience that positions the Indigenous learner to uphold their
responsibility and obligations to their family and nation of origin as autonomous Peoples. NEC provides culturally relevant
education and training for Indigenous Peoples to pursue career aspirations and enhance academic goals in alignment with
their diverse cultural identities and traditional knowledge. The NEC longhouse offers access to many resources and in
- house support, including cultural and spiritual support, funding, counselling, and career advising from a culturally
authentic lens.

**Position Summary**
and coordinating IABE career pathways through confidence building and healing. To set Indigenous students up for
success in all of NEC's post-secondary programs and provide the tools for the prevention of genocide by building
confidence and a pathway to healing through the reclamation of cultural identity and the self-determination of
Indigenous Peoples. To keep Indigenous learners engaged and successful by making them feel accepted and safe at NEC,
as many of our Indigenous learners are residential school survivors and intergenerational survivors of the residential
school system and the ongoing collective inter-generational trauma that is a part of Indigenous Peoples’ lived
experiences. Finally, the Coordinator will be called to other duties within the Longhouse as part of our longhouse values
and cultural authenticity.

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- BA/MA in related discipline; or a suitable combination of education and related experience.***
- Preference given to a person of Indigenous ancestry.***
- Experience in working with Indigenous communities and organizations.***
- Demonstrated project management experience needed.***
- Knowledgeable and/or demonstrated expertise in the project content area.***
- At least one-year specialized experience in a field related to the project.***
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.***
- Knowledge and skill in coordinating projects.***
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.***
- Knowledge of Indigenous Peoples’ values, communities, instructional methodology, and experience working with

Indigenous adults and organizations.***
- Good computer skills: knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Outlook and Teams.***
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, sponsors/funders, the public and colleagues.**

Appointment to this full-time Regular position will require a formal criminal record check, the details of which may

**Salary: $42.06/hr./per collective agreement**
