The Animal Health Technology and Veterinary Medical Assistant programs offer a rewarding career for those individuals interested in being a part of the animal studies team. The program is designed to provide students with practical skills used in both small and large animal practices, including lab work, diagnostic imaging, and medical and surgical nursing.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, lab and/or clinical setting.
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment.
- Evaluate the learning process: Ensure learning is evaluated in a reliable and timely manner, provide appropriate and timely feedback to students; Submit marks/records promptly.
- Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention; respond to student issues.
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions.
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students and colleagues.
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement.
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Excellent working knowledge of animal health clinics.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Adapt easily to change and espouse continuous quality improvement with a strong focus on student success and satisfaction.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in an agile environment providing educational and animal care simultaneously.

**Qualifications**:

- Registered Veterinary Technologist with the ABVMA
- Experience in clinical pathology is required.
- Experience in mixed animal practice is an asset
- Experience in delivery of adult education is desirable

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

**Remuneration**: Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification - Instructor).
- This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement_
