TEMPORARY PART TIME (12 months)

SALARY RANGE: $26.61 - $28.04 per hour

This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing June 1 2023 and closing at 11:59 pm on June 6 2023.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Manager Patient Registration and Central Booking, the Registration/ Admitting Clerk is responsible for office and clerical functions in the Emergency Department including: registering all Emergency patients, providing direction and information to ER patients and their families; utilizing Meditech Admissions module admitting and discharging patients; maintaining ER records, closing and filing charts, documenting WSIB, collecting and documenting insurance information, creating financial forms and receiving payments, answering telephone inquiries and relaying accurate messages; morgue processes, and other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Medical Office Administration Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge of Meditech Admissions Module;
- Keyboarding skills of 35 w.p.m. (tested);
- Knowledge of medical terminology (tested);
- Proven ability to work well in a high paced environment with frequent interruptions;
- Proven ability to work with mínimal supervision and to demonstrate initiative and be a self-starter;
- Physically capable of reaching, pulling, bending, walking, lifting, carrying frequently throughout the shift to accomplish tasks;
- Proven attention to detail;
- The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritization, organizational and time-management abilities;
- Must have satisfactory performance record;
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public;

- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and,

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

Successful applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
